Mid-autumn festival is approaching!
We visited another half-century old traditional bakery - Bat Sin Cake shop 八仙餅家 in Sham Shui Po for Mooncakes 🥮 this year.
We went there at 2pm on Tuesday and I was very surprised how busy the shop was, the ladies in the shop just kept putting Mooncakes into tin cans/ bags and gave it to the customers.
You can still find very traditional Mooncake here in Bat Sin that can hardly be found in Hong Kong now. My dad say 雞油月 Mooncake that uses chicken oil is what he had when he was young. It is still too early to eat Mooncakes, so we will tell you how they taste later!
Their posters are vintage but the message is very up to date. It wrote 八仙(that’s the name of the cake shop - Bat Sin!)下凡 共同抗疫 - the Eight Immortals descend to the earth to fight coronavirus with you! Stay healthy everyone!
