Eight Cents Cafe 八仙楼 is one of the latest spots in Penang to get a bowl of classic, old-school desserts; the new kid on the block caught the attention of many due to its old-school setting and its traditional Chinese sweet soup offering. The menu comprises of a list of familiar Chinese Tong Sui, from the timeless Red Bean Sweet Soup to Barley, Gandum, Bubur Pulut Hitam and even refreshing cold treats like Ice Kacang. Nothing unusual and funky on the menu, just the classic ones. The kitchen also churns out some snacks- the Chinese Crullers stuffed with Bak Kua, crushed Peanut Candy and Cucumber are definitely some of the weirdest but valid combinations ever. Worth dropping by if you yearn for a bowl of Tong Sui but not to the extent to travel all the way here just for Tong Sui.
