Helping workers, PMEs, and businesses pull through the COVID-19 outbreak was on top of our agenda in the Budget Debate today.
Businesses are naturally concerned about the impact of the outbreak. Some have an excess of manpower, while workers are worried about job security. The Government is concerned too. This is why Manpower Minister Josephine Teo highlighted the importance of supporting local workers, to find a fair way forward for companies to do so: http://bit.ly/3cfyCsn
Workers will also get help through a new Job Security Council. NTUC Secretary General Ng Chee Meng 黄志明 spoke about this today. The Council will help match retrenched PMEs with job vacancies across 4,000 companies, and train them in the skills they need to fill the vacancies.
