Race conditions were tougher than I expected but still a PB day and I’ll take it! And I’m also happy that I made it out here, after missing out on Colombo 70.3 because I was ill.

I heard that Ironman 70.3 Taiwan was a relatively “easy” race because it’s a wetsuit swim, the bike course is flat and the weather is cooling. After completing it today, I say LIESSSSS. HAHAHAHA!

My wetsuit swim in the freshwater manmade lake was quite slow and I got out of the water feeling bummed about my time, but I decided not to dwell on that and just focus on the next 2 legs.

The path to the transition area was soooooo long omg. It was about 700m to get in (not including the distance to your bike so it depends on where you are) and the transition area is very long/big too. I was like, omg I just wanna get to my bike can!

Bike course isn’t pancake flat. There are nice long stretches on the highway yes, but it does go up and down (similar to Mandai?) and there’s a pretty big climb up south, which you have to do twice (both ways). Headwind was quite bad in some places, but that also means we got some decent tailwind here and there.

And it wasn’t thaaat cooling. It was pretty sunny today! Ok it isn’t as hot or humid as Danang or Cebu, but enough to heat you up some. I also don’t like running loops but the 3 loops we had to do in the forest park was quite alright, with a little bit of gentle slopes.

I came in 6th in my age group (missed 5th place by 45s) out of 45 people, so I think that’s pretty decent la. Plus I got a trophy leh. No slot to the 70.3 world champs sadly! (The 35-39 AG rolled down to 31st! Urghhhhh)
