Visited Mr Kwek Leng Joo’s wake today to pay my respects. Was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing when I was in Antalya.
Ho Ching and I visited Leng Joo’s exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore barely a fortnight ago. He had collaborated with painter and calligrapher Lin Lu Zai, who painted on Leng Joo’s nature photos. The pieces were beautiful in their simplicity and power.
Leng Joo left us suddenly when he had so much more to give. Singapore has lost a champion of the environment, leader of corporate social responsibility, and a fine photographer with a big heart.
A passionate nature lover, Leng Joo often took photos of birds, dragonflies, plants, or ponds. The Singapore Botanic Gardens was one of his favourite places (and mine too). Some of his photos of the Gardens were submitted as part of our UNESCO bid. He and his CDL team provided valuable support in the bid, which could not have succeeded without him.
He will be missed by many. – LHL

One of my favourite attractions is Singapore Botanic Gardens - the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in YourSingapore! When I was studying my tourist guide course, I got the chance to visit this beautiful tropical colonial garden very often. I love walking around the National Orchid Garden which has over 1,000 orchid species. Plus, our national flower Vanda Miss Joaquim is such a beauty.
As my Berlin friends, Claudia & Arne (@foodwithaview_berlin) love gardens; I’d like them to visit this beautiful garden when they come to #Singapore! #SingaporeInvites #yoursingapore #sp

I've lived in Singapore for a little over 2 years but I haven't really explored Singapore's only world heritage site - Botanic Gardens. I have always been skeptical about this world heritage. I mean, it's just a garden. How can it be so amazing? So today, I asked my local friend Jimmy to show me around Botanic Gardens. Hopefully, by the end of today I get to appreciate the world heritage site more.
