“Before I met Chocobie, (Adward’s Corgi) can’t say that I hated dogs, but I had just never imagined dogs would have anything to do with my life, until I met her”
“Because Chocobie was a very shy and sensitive dog, so I always had to pay attentions to the dogs, traffics, and humans on the street, because she was almost always easily frightened. So I had started my observation on the other dogs and their human companions. I kinda enjoyed the interactions, so I started photographing them.”
“I had the chance to travel around the world, thanks to the swoosh company. So after my work’s done, I would wander the foreign streets, and shoot people with their dogs. I even prepared a film snap camera just for this project I called 《We R the Dogs》.”
“Did you ask for permission when you shoot?”
“No, rarely, and the dog owners never got mad at me, they were all pretty nice and friendly in general, no matter how badass or how broke they appeared, it was almost like we knew we were all dog owners just by exchanging the looks in our faces.”
“For my very first photobook, I didn’t want anyone to tell me what to do, I just wanted to design it my way. It was scheduled to be published in 2013, but because I wanted full control, so I had to save money for two years to fund my own book. When the designer finished the first draft layout, we realized it was almost 1200 pages, and the budget was totally blown, I had to cut it down, but it was very difficult to let some shots go, I managed to find a balance around 900 pages.”
“900 pages still feels like an encyclopedia!”

「在認識CHOCOBIE（ADWARD的柯基犬女兒，五歲）之前…不是討厭動物，但只是單純覺得路上溜達的狗和主人們與我沒什麼鏈接性，直到遇到了她。」
「因為她是一個很敏感、害羞、容易緊張的小孩，所以和她出去散步時，我變得要十分注意周圍的人事物，以免讓她遭受到危險。也就開始了觀察其他人和狗的互動關係、也發現很多飼主和她們的毛小孩的互動很有趣，也開始對拍攝這個題材起了興趣。」
「很感謝某知名國際運動品牌和公關給我機會去到很多國家，我也在工作後有機會出去溜達，觀察到地球的各個角落的人們對待動物的方式，我也特別準備一台專門拍攝《WE R THE DOGS》用底片傻瓜相機，隨時隨地拍攝路上這些人和狗的照片。」
「拍照之前，你有詢問這些外國陌生人的許可嗎？」
「其實我沒有特別詢問對方，但是遛狗的人其實都十分友善。就算是看起來很凶惡、或很窮困的主人我們用眼神就知道互相是毛小孩的父母。」
「因為不想受到出版社的限制，所以《WE R THE DOGS》這本處女寫真書，我決定獨立出版，完全照我的想法來做。本來是2013年要發，但是等到今年才存夠錢自己印刷。後來設計師排版後發現已經好幾千頁，後來也努力做取捨，但是還是在900多頁，無法再刪除了！」
