A popular hiking trail amongst the Penang hikers, a hiking trail that leads to a place known as Emperor Villa 帝来山庄 (via Fig Tree Hill). The hiking trail has been there for quite some time but recently gained its popularity due to the quaint, attractive decor at Emperor Villa (around 45-minute walk from the entrance of the hiking trail). While the place is picturesque, the food is equally alluring. Imagine being rewarded a scrumptious meal after shedding off some sweat. The menu is pretty small- featuring the usual Hainanese Breakfast Toasts (with Soft Boiled Eggs and Coffee), some stir-fried noodles and some fried snacks. The prices are slightly higher than average but given that the place is quite remote, the price points are well-justified (and the food is delicious). To reach Emperor Villa, you will need to enter from Jalan Kenari- between Regency Heights Condominium and Sri Subramaniar Temple Sungai Ara.

旺角魚蛋粉:
三寶丸湯河粉(1人份量):
材料:
乾河粉1個
三寶丸各1粒
蔥花
調味料:
雞粉
處理:
1. 河粉用清水浸15分鐘至軟身。
2. 河粉,擎乾水,清水沖乾淨,再擎乾水。
烹調 :
1. 煲滾500毫升水。
2. 加入1/2量匙雞粉。
3. 放三寶丸。
4. 煲了約2分鐘,水已滾起。
5. 三寶丸已滾透,轉大火加入河粉,再滾起,熄火。
6. 夾起河粉,三寶丸放上面,加入蔥花及辣椒絲,完成。
Flat rice noodles with meatballs in soup (serving for 1):
Ingredients:
Instant dried flat rice noodle 1 No.
Meatball 3 Nos.
Spring onion cubes
Seasoning:
Chicken powder
Preparation:
1. Flat rice noodle, soak in tap water for 15 minutes until it is soft.
2. Flat rice noodles, hang dry. Rinse with tap water, hang dry again.
Steps:
1. Boil up 500ml water.
2. Add 1/2 measure spoon of chicken powder.
3. Put meatballs.
4. Have already boiled for 2 minutes, water has been boiled up.
5. Meatballs have been already boiled well. Turn to high flame, add flat rice noodles. Turn off fire when water boils up again.
6. Pick up flat tice noodles, put meatballs on top. Add green onion cubes and shredded red chili on top. Serve.
豉油皇炒河粉 (3人份量):
材料:
乾河粉3個
調味料:
生抽1湯匙
蠔油1湯匙
烹調:
1. 中火在鑊中燒熱1湯匙油。
2. 放河粉。
3. 如果覺得不夠油,可逐步加入。
4. 轉慢火。
5. 加入蠔油1湯匙,生抽1/2湯匙。
6. 轉大火,快炒,炒勻。
7. 鑊邊加入生抽1/2湯匙,增加焦香味,炒勻。
8. 放上碟,加入蔥粒及辣椒絲,完成。
Stir fried flat rice noodles with soy sauce (serving for 3):
Ingredients:
Instant dried flat rice noodle 3 Nos.
Seasonings:
Light soya sauce 1 tbsp
Oyster sauce 1 tbsp
Preparation:
1. Flat rice noodle, soak in tap water for 15 minutes until it is soft.
2. Flat rice noodles, hang dry. Rinse with tap water, hang dry again.
Steps:
1. Heat up 1 tbsp oil at medium flame in wok.
2. Put flat rice noodles.
3. If you feel there is not enough oil in wok, just add oil little by little.
4. Turn to low flame.
5. Add oyster sauce 1 tbsp and light soya sauce 1 tbsp.
6. Turn to high flame, fry well.
7. Add light soya sauce 1/2 tbsp alongside the wok to enrich the flavour. Fry well.
8. Put on plate. Add green onion cubes and shredded red chili. Serve.

蕃茄蛋脆麪(2人份量):
材料:
菠菜麪5個
蕃茄2個
雞蛋4隻
芫荽1棵
調味料:
茄汁1湯匙
糖1/2湯匙
處理:
1. 煲1煲滾水,將菠菜麪煮軟。
2. 將麪過冷河,擎乾水。
烹調:
1. 放3湯匙油落鑊燒熱。
2. 平均地放麪落鑊。
3. 蕃茄1個切開6份。
4. 切碎芫荽。
5. 麪的一面煎脆後,反轉再煎另一面,然後再在鑊邊加1湯匙油。
6. 當鑊有煙釋出,將麪上碟。
7. 白鑊煎一煎蕃茄,待釋出茄紅素。
8. 加入300毫升水。
9. 加入1湯匙茄汁。
10. 加入1/2湯匙糖。
11. 煮滾後,埋生粉芡。
12. 倒起蕃茄。
13. 洗淨鑊,放1湯匙油落鑊。
14. 打勻4隻雞蛋落鑊,然後落蕃茄,兜勻,放在菠菜麪上,即成。
Crispy noodles with scrambled eggs and tomatoes (Servings for 2):
Ingredients:
Spinach noodles 5 Nos.
Tomatoes 2 Nos.
Eggs 4 Nos.
Coriander 1 No.
Seasonings:
Tomato Ketchup 1 tbsp
Sugar 1/2 tbsp
Preparation:
1. Boil a pot of water, cook the spinach noodles until they turn soft.
2. Rinse the noodles with tap water, hang dry.
Steps:
1. Heat up 3 tbsp of oil, 2. Put the noodles evenly into wok.
3. Divide a tomato into six shares.
4. Cut the coriander or 檸檬葉.
5. Reverse the noodles when one side has been turned crispy, add 1 tbsp oil alongside the wok.
6. Put noodles on plate when there is some smoke comes out from the wok.
7. Stir fry the tomatoes with no oil in wok for 1 minute.
8. Add 300ml water in wok.
9. Put 1 tbsp tomato ketchup.
10. Add 1/2 tbsp sugar.
11. Put tapioca sauce when it has been boiled up.
12. Put the tomato on a plate.
13. Clean up wok, put 1 tbsp oil.
12. Beat 4 eggs, scramble them, put direct into wok, then put tomatoes immediately, stir for 10 seconds, put on top of the spinach noodles, serve.

材料:
韓國粉絲1包
韭黃2兩(可以用蔥代替)
甘筍1個
椰菜半個
烹調:
1. 大火在鑊中煲滾1鑊水。
2. 放韓國粉絲。
3. 韭菜,清水洗乾淨。
4. 韭菜,切段,約2吋長。
5. 椰菜,切絲,清水洗淨。
6. 甘筍,去皮,刨一塊塊,再切一條條幼條。
7. 粉絲,已煮了5分鐘,至軟身及有彈性,就可以了,擎乾水,清水沖洗乾淨,擎乾水。
8. 大火在鑊中燒熱油1湯匙。
9. 加入甘筍,椰菜及韭菜,炒勻,如果油不夠,可再次加入。
10. 甘筍、椰菜及韭菜已炒了2分鐘,推向鑊邊。
11. 加入蒜蓉1茶匙爆香。
12. 加入粉絲,炒勻。
13. 加入調味料:
a. 蠔油1茶匙
b. 生抽1茶匙
炒勻。如果喜歡食辣,可加入辣椒醬,炒勻。
14. 加入麻油1茶匙,炒勻。
15. 加入糖1茶匙,炒勻。
16. 完成,上碟,可享用。
Stir fried Korean glass noodles:
Ingredients:
Korean glass noodles 1 pack
Chives 2 taels (can use green onion instead)
Carrot 1 No.
Cabbage half No.
Steps:
1. Heat up a wok of water at high flame.
2. Put glass noodles.
3. Chives, rinse with tap water.
4. Chives, cut in lengths about 2" long.
5. Cabbage, get it shredded. Rinse thoroughly.
6. Carrot, get it peeled, then slice and shred.
7. Glass noodles, has been soaked for 5 minutes. It is soft and chewy. Hang dry. Rinse with tap water. Hang dry.
8. Heat up oil 1 tbsp at high flame in wok.
9. Put carrot, cabbage, chives, fry well. If oil is not enough, just add a little.
10. Carrot, cabbage and chives have been fried for 2 minutes, push them to the edge of wok.
11. Add garlic sauce 1 tsp. Fry well.
12. Put glass noodles, fry well.
13. Add seasoning:
a. Oyster sauce 1 tsp
b. Light soya sauce 1 tsp
Fry well. Or if you like spicy, just put some chili sauce, fry well.
14. Add sesame oil 1 tsp. Fry well.
15. Add sugar 1 tsp. Fry well.
16. Complete. Put on plate. Serve.
