說到金屬材質的文物，例如：銅香爐、錫杯、金瓶……等等，其實也是相當常見的東西，只是大家總覺得金屬好像比較能保存，而且不太需要照顧。
不不不，看來無堅不摧的金屬，其實沒那麼堅強，除了常見的髒污之外，製造時的漆膜不完整，或者長期暴露在高溫高濕環境下造成的鏽蝕、氧化等問題，都會讓本該閃亮亮、金爍爍的文物失去光彩。
由於金屬文物的清潔需要使用一些特殊溶劑，一般不是修護專家的我們，只要用清水擦去表面的髒污放好就 ok 了。
而清潔保養與存放文物時，不同金屬成分的文物應該分開存放，千萬不要使出銅盆裝錫碗、金香爐疊銀杯之類令人崩潰的收納術，避免器物之間的互相碰撞、磨損。
另外，清潔工具也要分別使用，以免清潔後的髒污從這處黏到那處，原本沒事的也出事了。
除此之外，金屬文物也很怕摔，移動、持拿的時候務必小心，不要跟旁人打打鬧鬧結果器物受傷、人也受傷。
最後，要拿文物的時候千萬不要用手抓，因為皮膚中的鹽分，可能加速腐蝕金屬，請穿戴特製的丁腈手套（Nitrile Gloves）再去接觸文物喔～
