Today was the first day of PSLE.

I thought I did quite a good job by waking the big girl up, making her French Toast, braiding her hair and writing her a letter of encouragement - with her favourite Sumikko Gurashi design - to wish her all the best.

But this girl, she touches me in ways I never expect and brings joy through the little things she does. Not only does she make life happier for me, she is also my motivation to be a better, braver and stronger mum.

This afternoon, after enduring an over 4-hour wait in school due to a technical glitch during her oral exam and only having a bun and biscuit between 7am to 230pm, she came back home on her own, hungry but not whiny. I served her a big bowl of herbal chicken soup with mee sua which she ate heartily before taking a rest.

In the evening, she helped me to take care of the baby and after dinner, we watched a couple of hours of TV to relax, including AGT and Just for Laughs Gags, because I do think it's more important for her to feel happy than stressed at this point.

Before she went to bed, she wrote this sweet thank you letter for me which I totally didn't see coming and it totally melted my heart. Ironically, it's day 1 of her major exam yet she cheered and lifted me up more than what I did for her. Awwww. And I think I needed this.

Love you so much, my dear Angel. No matter what happens, you know I will always, always be proud of you. Thank you for being you.

P.S. She also dropped her molar, which is her 18th tooth, tonight too. Yup, only two more milk teeth to go and her last few visits from Tooth Fairy. This girl is growing up so fast and it's a bittersweet feeling but I am embracing every moment of seeing her mature into a fine young lady.

I used to be very strict on our kids eating sugary foods ...
When Bella was born at 3.6kg we were strict with her with no sweet drinks .
Until now she never like sweet drinks , ice cream or even chocolates . Only plain water ...
Tasha was born a tiny baby .
We felt it was okay for her to consume sweetened food but with limits . But am glad she's not sweet toothed either .
Adam & Noah are super active kids and we feel its okay to eat sweetened food but within limits.

My point - It's really upto us parents to decide what food our kids eat.
If we start our kids with sweetened drinks from an early age, surely they will forego milk and only eat sugary foods.
' You are what you eat ' - I always say ...

Its okay to be a chubby baby at 0-3 years old . They will soon shed their baby fats once they start walking and running about.
But if they are 4 years old and seeing them overweight and obese , drastic action need to be taken.
Stop sweetened drinks totally
Start outdoor activities or Sports
Take them to the park often
Lead an active life with your child
No chocolates or ice cream
Eat healthy food
Ideally its best to introduce all the above from birth.
Its all about habits and routine hoping they would continue doing so till they grow up.
The trend of obese Children are worrisome in our Country and I blame it on parents whom keep on feeding the child sebab ' sayang ' ,
unhealthy lifestyle or just lack of knowledge .

UMUR BERAPA BAYI MULA TUMBUH GIGI DAN BILA WAKTU SESUAI UNTUK BAWA ANAK JUMPA DOKTOR GIGI?

Itulah soalan yang kerap ditanya oleh ibubapa semasa lawatan di klinik gigi.

Secara lazimnya, gigi anak mula tumbuh sekitar usia ENAM BULAN dan kebiasaannya, gigi susu pertama yang tumbuh adalah dua gigi tengah di bawah.

Seterusnya, akan muncul empat gigi tengah di bahagian atas.

Gigi lain akan muncul perlahan-lahan dan mula mengisi ruang gusi bayi di sisi rahang atas atau di bawah sehinggalah semua 20 batang gigi keluar pada umur 2 ½ TAHUN sampai 3 TAHUN.

Gigi susu ini bertahan hingga anak berumur 6 ke 7 TAHUN dan akan tanggal satu persatu bagi menggantikan gigi dewasa atau gigi kekal.

Secara umumnya, setiap enam bulan, gigi bayi akan mula tumbuh.

Gigi anak perempuan lebih cepat tumbuh berbanding anak lelaki

Gigi bawah keluar dahulu berbanding gigi atas.

Gigi di kedua rahang biasanya tumbuh berpasangan, satu di sebelah kanan dan satu sebelah kiri.

Ukuran gigi susu lebih kecil dan warna lebih putih berbanding gigi dewasa.

Di usia dua ke tiga tahun, seharusnya gigi susu sudah keluar sepenuhnya.

Kemudiannya semasa umur empat tahun, rahang dan tulang wajah mula tumbuh dan menciptakan ruang di antara gigi susu.

Ia bertujuan bagi menyediakan ruang yang mencukupi supaya gigi kekal yang lebih besar tumbuh.

Pada usia 13 TAHUN, sebahagian besar 28 gigi kekal sudah berada pada tempat masing-masing.

Manakala satu hingga empat gigi bongsu akan tumbuh pada usia 17 TAHUN hingga 21 TAHUN sampailah jumlah gigi kekal lengkap 32 gigi.

🐾🐾pertumbuhan gigi setiap anak berbeza-beza. ada yang pertumbuhan giginya sesuai usia, tetapi ada juga yang tidak.

BILA PATUT ANDA BAWA ANAK JUMPA DOKTOR GIGI?

Sebaiknya, anak berusia 1 TAHUN perlu membiasakan diri untuk jumpa doktor gigi.

Jika anak sudah tidak menggunakan botol dan tidak ambil makanan manis, maksudnya gigi dia tetap sihat dan pada usia dua tahun sebaiknya melakukan rutin ini setiap enam bulan sekali.

HOW OLD IS THE BABY STARTING TO GROW DEETH AND WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT TO BRING THE CHILDREN TO SEE THE DOCTOR?

That's the question that parents often ask during dentist visits.

Usually, child's teeth start to grow around SIX MONTHS and usually, the first milk tooth to grow is two middle teeth below.

Next, there will be four middle teeth at the top.

Other teeth will slowly appear and start filling up the baby gum space on the upper jaw or below until all 20 teeth come out at ½ 2 YR to 3 YRS.

This milk tooth lasts until children are 6 to 7 years old and will date one by one to replace adult teeth or permanent teeth.

Generally, every six months, baby teeth start to grow.

Girls teeth grow faster than boys

Bottom tooth comes out first compared to top teeth.

Teeth in both jaws usually grow in pairs, one on the right and one on the left.

The size of milk teeth is smaller and whiter than adult teeth.

At the age of two to three, the milk teeth should be completely out.

Then when four years old, jaws and facial bones started growing and creating space between milk teeth.

It aims to provide sufficient space for bigger teeth to grow.

At the age of 13, most of 28 teeth remained in their respective places.

Meanwhile one to four youngest teeth will grow at 17 years old to 21 years old until the total teeth remains complete 32 teeth.

🐾🐾 each child's tooth growth is different. some have his teeth growth age, but some don't.

WHEN SHOULD YOU BRING YOUR CHILD TO SEE A DENTAL DOCTOR?

Better, a 1 year old needs to get used to seeing a dentist.

If the child doesn't use a bottle and doesn't take sweet food, it means his teeth stay healthy and at two years old better do this routine every six months.

There was a DECO CHOCO contest (by Meiji: one of Japan's leading confectioneries) few years ago. I came up with an idea making a 3D photo frame and I won a silver prize! At that time, I could only use Meiji's product but this time I used sweets from many other manufacturers.

You can cover with a plastic wrap and save it. It lasts for more than a year in a cool place BUT it is not safe to eat after 3 days. LoL

Meiji's Yam Yam, Choco Baby, Poifull, Petitie 5-1 Choco, Takenoko No Sato... etc., colorful candies, gummy candies, are also cute. BUT don't use cotton candy. I tried and it looked pretty bad like mxxx...

I bought them all in packages but it is wise to go to Sweet Factory or any other sweets shops where they sell by measurement and get just one or two each. More colors and shapes you use, cuter it become!

I bought some of them at DAISO (dollar shop). They have weird imported sweets like stone chocolate and flat heart. Oh, btw, I was looking for Meiji Twinkle Chocolate (明治 ツインクル) but I couldn't find it. It should be cute to add on your photo frame, if you know ;) hehe
