The other day, someone from an institution I used to respect tried to tell me that professional mermaiding was floopsy, built on "fairies and unicorns", and didn't require the same athleticism as a sport.
To which I respond with this video. Let's talk about the sinus burn, the stinging in the eyes, the breathhold, the navigation of space while being unable to see.
Let's talk about the discipline, physical fitness, mental resilience, and sheer power of will required to make pain look effortless, and discomfort look magical.
Let's talk about what it takes to build a business and a brand out of that. To help make history in the most unexpected of ways.

We do what we do because we truly believe that the world needs more businesses and people that promote love, positivity, awareness and conservation, and the message that we can step outside ourselves and be greater than, fuller than, more empowered than. We do what we do in the firsthand knowledge that this job is at once a calling, an art, and a sport that requires as much athleticism and discipline as it does creativity and grace.

So if you can't do it... then don't knock it. The world continues to move, and the audience will continue to demand magic, whether you like it or not.
