It means a lot this is from a very special, inspiring super gorgeous woman Your Healthy Hedonista
The current Bishnu Ghosh Champion, ChauKei Stefanie Ngai! I trained with this amazing woman years ago in my own competition journey...though she was 6 months pregnant at the time!!! I remember her in a beautiful full backbend, (we were doing 50 per day at the time), with her round belly smiling up at the ceiling, tellling me with a smile to keep pushing forwards...there is no "try", either do or do not...! Her strong words convinced me to keep working hard at my flexibility training, though I felt that maybe I was too old and inflexible to make the improvements I needed to make. That year however, I stepped on the US Championship stage and placed 5th, completing "scorpion in tiger", and "crane", two poses I NEVER thought I would be able to do in a million years!...ChauKei radiated grace, will-power and beauty at the time, she was a beacon of light to me, and and I'm so pleased to see that this year she won the International Yoga Asana Championship!!
"After six years of competing, ChauKei said of her win, “After this championship, I’m thrilled to see all the pieces come together into a picture of what I’ve been trying to achieve in the past few years. All the small steps, unglamorous changes, and seemingly untimely moments are part of it.” Constantly facing and embracing our emotions in the present moment leads to a series of courageous performances throughout life – it is what epitomizes healthy competition and taps into the champion within all of us."
Namaste!
