The LWFP Award will grant three photographers $10,000, a Leica SL2-S camera, and a Leica Vario Elmarit-SL 24-70mm each to help complete an in-progress, personal photo project that bears witness to humanity, expressed through the female point of view. Awardees will be featured in a 4-week exhibition at @Fotografiska.NY

The LWFP x VII Mentor Program will grant a total of three mentorships which include monthly one-on-one Coaching sessions by a @VIIPhoto photographer, exposure on VII’s website, representation of Mentees by VII Agency, and a 12-month loan of a Leica Q2 camera. Candidates for this exclusive Mentorship Program must demonstrate a commitment to the profession of photography, have worked in the photo industry for four or more years, have worked on assignment, and has a published body of work. Candidates will be selected by members of VII Agency on the basis of quality of work, commitment to project, and vision of future success.

剛剛運動的時候邊聽BBC Podcast，突然聽到台灣公司買疫苗的關鍵字，沒想到仔細一聽報導差點沒吐血。BBC竟然報導台灣政府為了"保住顏面"，"不願意"購買BNT疫苗。但卻隻字不提台灣所面臨來自中國的巨大外交及軍事威脅。

Two Taiwnese firms have taken matters into their own hands to buy a large consignment of Pfizer Biontech Covid jabs after the government was reluctant to purchase the medicine because it’s being distributed by a company based in mainland China.

Asia Pacific editor Michael: “Taiwan and China are currently locked in this bitter diplomatic dispute over the future status of Taiwan. China wants it to be part of China. Taiwan thinks it should be independent. That’s the background. So in Taiwan over recent months there’s been a surge of Covid cases, and the Taiwanese government has been desperate to get hold of vaccines. It got AZ, got Moderna. It hasn’t been able to get the Pfizer Biontech. That’s because in that region, in East Asia, it’s been distributed by a Chinese company. Taiwanese government was unwilling because of those reasons I just mentioned to deal directly with a Chinese company. So what’s happened is these two Taiwanese firms stepped in: they bought 10 million doses of Pfizer Biontech vaccines from this Chinese company and they are going to hand it over to Taiwan. They spent 350 million dollars. In effect, these companies have acted as intermediate just so that the Taiwanese government can save face not to deal directly with this Chinese company.

⚠ #遭受歧視，是指許多長輩會認為，meta-analysis「只是整理別人的文章」，「不算是研究」，但這說法其實是站不住腳的，不管是 NEJM 、JAMA、Lancet，都有許多 meta-analysis 刊登，且往往為一整個研究潮流做出重要的結論（如：HES 對 critically ill patients 究竟有益還是有害？），更別說風行全台的實證醫學潮流，其指標期刊 The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews，整本都是 meta-analysis。

這點初學者先不理會就好，存活才是第一要務。當然，你也可以在用 meta-analysis 站穩腳步、存活下來後，日後再拼臨床研究，讓自己的研究文體更多元。

⚠ #統計不同，是指 meta-analysis 所需要的統計觀念與軟體，都與傳統的臨床研究不同。我們在學校或醫院，常聽到的是 mean±SD、independent t test 或 R2，但在 meta-analysis，常說的卻是 SMD、Egger’s test 以及 I2，在學習上，需要多花點心思。

⚠ #資源較少，則是因為過去台灣不太流行 meta-analysis，相對來說，要找到臨床研究的老師，每個科多少都有幾位，要找到健保資料庫研究的老師，隨著近年台灣文章漸增，也能找到，但要找到熟悉 meta-analysis 文體，且又在你附近、願意教你的，那就非常困難。

隨著各醫院與醫學會要求漸增，現在基本的要求，都變成得要 original article 才行。於是，臨床研究、健保資料庫研究、meta-analysis，就變成三種年輕研究者起步的主要流派。

但是，如果我們以住院醫師與年輕主治醫師來看：臨床研究 IRB 申請需要資格與時間，受試者同意書簽署需要科支持或請助理幫忙；健保資料庫研究雖然 IRB 相對容易通過，但國衛院光碟之路已斷，去加值中心則需要特別請假；meta-analysis，不需要經過 IRB，也能利用臨床之餘的零碎時間工作，自然成為越來越多人出道時的選擇。
