Collecting seashells, sand and corals damage beach ecosystems 🤿
Seashells are an important part of coastal ecosystems: They provide materials for birds' nests, a home or attachment surface for algae, sea grass, sponges and a host of other microorganisms. Fish use them to hide from predators, and hermit crabs use them as temporary shelters!

“take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints”
All shells play a role in natural ecosystems, they provide homes to many creatures and with a reduction in the number of shells found on a beach increased beach erosion, changes in calcium carbonate recycling, and declines in diversity and abundance of organisms, which are dependent on shell availability like hermit crabs!!
Leaving seashells where they are is actually one of the easiest ways to protect marine life and make a small contribution to saving our oceans 🧜🏻♀️ 🐚 🌊 #pearypiegoesgreen #Phuket #Thailand
