Here’s the legendary Michael Brecker’s solo on ‘Some Skunk Funk’ at their Barcelona live concert!

The craziest thing about this over 300 BPM solo is the coherence & development of the seemingly endless idea from Michael. It’s when tonality became interchangeable, rules became vague & breakable.

If you’re also a fan of Michael from the Brecker’s Brother, you’d know that wearing a pair of glasses would truly complete this transcription.

While it has always been a mystery what the brand of Michael’s glasses were, I have most humbly chosen this pair of glasses from Tidou - Titanium Eyewear to mimic Michael’s artistry at my best.

I hope this transcription video would do this legendary solo justice!

*by the way, this pair of glasses is amazingly light and jazzy. Highly recommend.

Tomo Fujita possesses all the elements of great musicianship: astounding technical ability, flawless rhythm skills, and a total command of his instrument. But if asked, Tomo would tell you that music is not just about playing. It’s about feeling. He has a remarkable ability to inject emotion into every phrase he plays, whether the style is blues, jazz, funk or rock. Tomo earned a degree at Berklee College of Music and has been a faculty member at Berklee since 1993. Perhaps the most famous of his former Berklee students are Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno (Kraz) and John Mayer. Tomo is also affiliated with the major music schools in his native Japan. His articles have been published in the Japanese magazines Jazz Life and Jazz Guitar, and he is a regular contributor to the Japanese edition of Guitar magazine. His instructional materials are especially popular in Japan, where guitar players have bought more than 100,000 copies of his videos and books. Tomo has performed with some of the best, including Phil Collins, John Mayer, James Genus (Saturday Night Live), Will Lee (Late Show with David Letterman), Kenwood Dennard (Jaco Pastorious, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Smith), Darryl Jones (Miles Davis, Sting, Rolling Stones), Paul Jackson (Herbie Hancock, Headhunters), Ronnie Earl, Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie, Steve Jordan and Susan Tedeschi. Cy Leo is an international harmonica virtuoso, composer and singer-song writer born and raised in Hong Kong. Highly influence by his father PC Ho, the founder of Hong Kong Harmonica Association, he is keen on developing and promoting the art of harmonica. Benefit from the strong history of classical harmonica culture in Hong Kong, Leo developed a promising classical music foundation at tender age. After obtaining the World Championship in the World Harmonica Festival 2013, he began his further exploration off the harmonica. Over the years, he has developed technique, stage presence, cross-genre possibility that is beyond imagination for a harmonica artist.
