2002年，我拍了人生中第一個廣告。我放棄醫學院，決定當模特兒，結果我馬上爆紅，我爸爸媽媽很為我驕傲，哈哈！開玩笑的啦！故事其實不是這樣的。我放棄醫學院搬來台灣可能是我做過最瘋狂的事之一。當醫生一直以來都是我很有興趣的工作，這不只是一個父母希望我做的職業而已。我全身心地投入上課、實習、學習我未來要做的無國界醫生的工作。
2002: I got my first commercial. I gave up medical school to become a model. I become an overnight success and my parents were so proud of me. NOT! Quitting medical school to move to Taiwan was probably one of the craziest and riskiest things I’ve done in my life. Medicine was always something I personally loved, and not just a professional my parents pushed me towards. I put my heart and soul into getting into medical school and I wanted to travel the world with Medicine San Frontiers.

但是，拍完廣告之後，我很想很想嘗試這個新的”模特兒”工作，不知道為什麼，因為是新的嗎？還是我想要挑戰自己呢？或是想要多待在亞洲旅遊呢？
But I had this nagging itch to try out this whole modeling thing - don’t know what it was. The excitement of something new? The challenge of a different industry altogether? The desire to travel in Asia a bit longer?

最後，我決定放棄醫學院，因為我覺得像這種比較穩定的行業如果我想回去的話都還會在。但”模特兒”這個比較不穩定、特別，而且比較適合年輕時候試試看的行業，如果要做就要趁現在。
Finally, I decided, a career in medicine will still be there in a few years if I wanted it. But this opportunity to try modeling was probably something I should do younger rather than older.

所以，我全心全意跳進去！寄我的”拒絕信”給醫學院(哈哈哈哈哈哈！我的天啊！好難得是我可以”拒絕”，而不是”被拒絕”)。我搬來台灣，開始我的模特兒挑戰之路。我不能說是模特兒事業啦，因為老實說，其實不是那麼順利，也沒有固定的薪水或是工作機會。我為了生活也同時接了很多其他的兼差，像是教英文、當保母、加入小提琴團隊，也繼續在救護團隊工作。

So, i took a leap of faith and sent in my rejection letter (Haha. take THAT medical school. I reject YOU!) and started doing various TV commercials and print ads in Taiwan. I wish I could have said it was a lucrative or even successful career as a model, but honestly, there were more days in between than actual jobs. I had to support myself with a lot of side jobs: teaching English, baby sitting, joining violin performing groups, continuing my work as an EMT, etc. Anyway, here’s just a few of the very VERY varied looks I had back then. The make up…. Holy moly….

"A number of years ago, I wrote in with my praise report about conceiving after partaking of the holy Communion and declaring our supernatural conception of a baby. The following year, I gave birth to my son, Judah.

Four years later, this same promised son was diagnosed with autism. I felt my world fall apart as I coped with a child who was mute, who didn’t understand simple tasks, and who never called his father or me “Daddy” or “Mommy.” It was like living with a stranger.

I remember praying with my husband on the way to the doctor’s office the day we got the diagnosis. I remember how lost and confused I felt when we were told Judah had autism. And I remember the Spirit encouraging me not to accept the negative report.

Judah had been enrolled in a private school but the school discharged him when they could not cater to his needs. When that happened, I felt so alone even though I had my husband.

When Judah was about four, I searched Pastor Joseph Prince online and watched his sermon, “As Jesus Is, So Are You.” As I watched, my faith grew. However, I still felt like Peter looking at the storm around me as I saw my son not speaking and displaying behavior I didn’t understand.

I went to the Joseph Prince Ministries website and read a praise report about a little boy who had autism and showed major improvements after his mother proclaimed 1 John 4:17 over him. I began to pray and proclaim the same word over Judah as well. I also asked him to proclaim it but all I heard was some murmuring. But because of the word I heard, I didn’t lose faith and kept proclaiming 1 John 4:17 over him.

In that same year, Judah started speaking. He called us “Mommy” and “Daddy” before he turned five. Today Judah is excelling in school! Every night before he goes to bed, he prays, “As Jesus is, so am I in this world,” with clarity. Our God is a good and faithful God. All glory and praise be unto You, O Lord my God!

I want to encourage everyone to never give up on God because He never gives up on our situations."

Receive Wisdom and Knowledge Supernaturally from God

“But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught. The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?” Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.” (John‬ ‭7:14-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Some people place lots of weight on formal education, and while such things have their benefits, we who are children of God must realize that God generously gives wisdom to all who ask for it.

He can teach you about things that the world cannot comprehend, and even things that you never formally studied in school, causing people to be surprised at your level of skill.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

He can guide you to make good decisions even though you have zero experience in a field.

God provides these supernaturally, through His Spirit who lives in you.

It is like God uploading data to a cloud storage, and it gets synced to your account, giving you access because you are connected to Him through His Spirit.

Some things cannot really be taught by man. For example, Joseph could interpret dreams, and the interpretations came from God—it was not his own mind figuring the meanings out.

“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.” (James‬ ‭1:5-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

If you are facing a situation where you are inexperienced and unfamiliar, you can ask God to teach you and give you His wisdom. He will gladly give you what you need!

My school day started out like any other, until my form tutor handed me an envelope and told me "Well done, Mukhtar!" Huh? I was wondering whatever could be in that envelope, but I decided to save it until I got home to open it - whatever it was, it sounded like something worth opening with the rest of the family.

Little did I know that on that same morning, Mrs Mom and Mr Dad had received an email saying that I had gotten a big prize - but what!? Since it was sent in the morning, it meant that they had to wait anxiously all day long - it seemed to just drag on and on! When I got home, everyone was so excited, and, like me, they all wanted to know what was inside that envelope.

This was the moment we were all waiting for; everyone was there, Mrs Mom and Mr Dad, Fatimah, Ali, and @drauntie.uk as well. All of us had butterflies in our stomach as I opened that envelope…to find out that I had been awarded not one, but TWO PRIZES - the Junior Drama Prize and the W.R. Buttle Prize! I was completely filled with happiness, and I was over the moon to have received this great honour - Alhamdulillah! This was beyond anything I could have asked for.

These awards may have been addressed to me, but I know I couldn’t have done it without all those who are responsible for getting me where I am today. I thank Mrs Mom, Mr Dad, Fatimah, Ali, @drauntie.uk and each and every one in the family for their constant support and belief in me. Their unshaken faith in me warms my heart!

I’d also like to give a huge thank you to the teachers and the School for this acknowledgement. I am truly humbled by it - even one prize would have been ever so generous!

And not forgotten, all of you who have been supporting me continuously - thank you from the bottom of my heart!

And of course, I thank Allah for guiding me along the path to this achievement. I pray that He opens up more opportunities for me to reach higher…Aameen ♥️

I think there were so many times in the past few years where I considered going back to school just because I might need that degree as a safety net one day, but I don’t think I’d be where I am today if I did.

The point of this video isn’t to advocate that your studies aren’t important. I think education is vital to provide us with fundamental skills and knowledge. But what I’m saying is, I don’t want any of you to think that it’s the end of the world just because you failed your GCE O-Level Exams or Finals today.

It’s not wrong to have a little more faith in yourself and have the courage to do what you feel strongly for even if it’s not what is expected of you.
