日本語では、大きな顔をして偉そうに自分の自慢をしたりするような人を「天狗になる」や「自惚れる」と表現しますが、英語でもそれと似たような表現がいくつかあるのでご紹介しようと思います。

1) Get/Become big-headed
→「天狗になる / 自惚れる / 調子に乗る」

英語では「頭が大きくなる」という言い回しで天狗になっている人や自惚れた人を表現します。何か良い出来事や成功をしたことなどをキッカケに付け上がる意味合いとなります。
　
✔「Get/become big-headed」＝「天狗になる」
　
✔「Be big-headed」＝「自惚れている」
　
✔「Get/Become big-headed」+「after」+「動詞+ing」→「〜をして天狗になった」
　
✔「Get/become big-headed」+「since」+「文章」→「〜をしてから天狗になった」

この表現は「天狗になる」や「自惚れる」のようにネガティブな意味としては使われませんが、日本の辞書ではSwaggerを「威張る」や「自慢する」と紹介されているようなので、あえて取り上げてみました。一般的にネイティブの日常会話ではSwaggerは「自信に満ち溢れている」や「自信満々」のようにポジティブな意味合いとして用いられます。「He/She has swagger」と言うと、自慢をしているわけでもないのに自信に満ちたオーラがある人のことを指します。
　
✔「動詞」+「with a swagger」→「自信満々に（な態度で）〜をする」

仕事中、部下や同僚に対して「手を抜かないようにね！」と忠告したい場合、英語ではどのように表現するのが自然でしょうか？

「Cut corners」は、角を曲がらずに道路などを横切る行為を表しており、その様子をなぞらえて、手を抜くこと、近道をすること、無駄を省くこと、時間や経費を節約するなどを意味するフレーズで、特に「手を抜かないように」と忠告する場合によく使われます。しかし、必要な工程をはしょって楽な手段をとると行為は横着であり、その結果として“低品質”な結果を招いてしまい兼ねないことから、どちらかというとネガティブなニュアンスがあります。
