What is the difference between the colour bit for 8-bit JPEG,12-bit RAW,14-bit Raw and 16 bit-Tiff?According to definition,1 bit is equivalent to 2^1,so JPEG has 2^8=256 colour,12-bit RAW=4096,14-bit RAW=16384 and 16-bit Tiff=65536
Or in other words,JPEG has 16 times less colour than 12 bit RAW,64 times less colour than 14-bit RAW and 256 times colour than a 16 bit-Tiff!
The difference can be seen in my album,in which the skin tone for 14-bit(D7K) is much more richer and more natural than 12-bit(D5k).I can never imagine if I had the chance to use FX camera and shoot in 16-bit Tiff!
