【若要人不知】
"Did you buy Bitcoin?"
Leaving the multi-storey carpark, I hopped down the flight of stairs, and did random Bazi calculations in my head.
It was my favourite hobby. This time, something struck me.
I turned around and asked the Husband.
His eyes widened that tiny weeny bit and he looked surprised at my out-of-the-blue question.
"Yes, I did."
I nodded my head and calculation charts flashed past my eyes.
"Was it last month that you bought?" I probed.
"Yeah, I think so..."
"You made money, right? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Erm..."
.
It was always a happy time flaunting photos of herself and her husband.
That look. I would recognise it anywhere.
I pursed my lips that slightly. Words and sentences flying about in a whirlwind around me. How should I break it to my bestie?
"Where has Ken been flying to lately?"
"KL. His company has business dealings there."
I recalled Ken's Bazi. The city of sin had appeared...
"Hey, I saw something from Ken's face..."
In the wee hours, my bestie woke Ken up from his deep slumber.
He said he did nothing of that sort. It was always work, work, work in the city of Twin Towers.
Bestie grabbed his phone and stormed through it like the SPF on a anti-vice raid.
She found a string of messages between Ken and a lady who lived in KL, in his Messenger. On the surface, the lady wasn't anywhere prettier or sexier than my bestie.
Ken said she was "just a friend", introduced to him by his staff.
Bestie saw messages of Ken asking the girl out when he was in KL. The girl asked if it would be a group outing. Ken said no one else was free.
To her credit, the girl said, "Let's wait for the others."
But Ken replied, "I'm okay if you are okay."
Bestie was outraged.
"I thought you said you were always tired and busy in KL! Why do you still have the energy to go out with a lady you barely know?
You don't even know the roads in KL, so after your date, are you going to act all gentlemanly and send her home, or she send you back to your hotel?!"
When Ken was back in Singapore, they had kept in contact.
The girl changed her job. Ken asked how she was coping.
The girl talked about her dreams and aspirations. Ken gave her encouragement.
They shared about their common love for travelling and diving.
During the weekend, she would ask Ken, "How is your weekend?"
To which, Ken would always reply, with his Wife beside him, clueless that another woman in KL was asking her Husband how THEIR weekend were in Singapore.
Ken insisted that he did not have a thing for the lady.
In tears, Bestie erupted,
"What if one day she falls for you? Tell her that she is just a friend? How well do you know her ability to cope with rejection?
What if she flies all the way to Singapore and insists that she wants to meet you? What if she gets all suicidal? What if she wants to meet me and talk?
You are so selfish. You only care about your feelings. Neglecting hers. Dismissing mine. I thought you cherished us. How can you have the heart to put us through such unnecessary trouble, in the first place?
Don't you also have the responsibility to protect our marriage from possible harm?
I didn't even know about her existence till Ji Qian told me.
Let me ask you this. If she had agreed to go out with you alone, would you have told me that you went out with her solo in KL?"
Ken looked away.
"No, I wouldn't."
.
Over our roasted duck and char siew lunch yesterday, Husband asked me earnestly, "So should I buy more Bitcoin?"
Darling, that would be $388 for my Annual Destiny consultation, plus prior $49 donation to any charity of your choice.
I always do my utmost best, to give my clients the most accurate answer and help them with critical life decisions.
And I will definitely do so for you.
For your HUAT-ness is my greatest $atisfaction. 😘
