Unpretentious good food at this French modern bistro tucked away in TTDI. Let the food speak for itself @topshelf_kl offers casual dining & the food here pays homage to modern French cooking.
What I’ve tried:
*Spanish Pork Belly RM49 (2nd Pic)
-Saffron Risotto, Bacon & Gremolata (a green sauce made of chopped parsley, lemon zest & garlic). The absolutely tender pork belly definitely complemented well with the deliciously simple saffron risotto. You would be able to witness the perfect marriage on this plate - The tender pork belly, zesty Gremolate & the plump & al dente center of Risotto, well thought out and executed for sure.
Another favourite of mine here was the
*Mushroom Orzo Pasta RM 36
-Marinated mushrooms, bacon & truffle egg. Orzo is a small flat oval-shaped pasta that requires very little time to cook. It’s not rice but it's a small, rice-shaped pasta. It feels like you are eating rice but no you are not because you are able to taste that ‘al dente’ texture. With the added tasty crispy bacon pieces, this creamy orzo is definitely a must-try here. Really difficult to describe the overall flavour profiles but if you are a fan of mushrooms, bacon and creamy pastas, this is not to be missed.

Moules Mariniere RM39
My very first ‘good’ mussels experience was in Brussels. The whole Moules Frittes, you either love them or no. But oh well I’d eaten mussels in Brussels and finished off the plate of fries. Now, I’m here eating this Moules Mariniere with white wine, shallots and fresh herbs. The mussels from Topshelf were tender, and to pair it with toasted bread - it’s definitely the ultimate combo. Make sure to have it with bread and soak up all the scrumptious sauce. Would reorder when I visit again.
Liver Pate & Toast RM25
-Chicken Liver, Olive Tapenade & Toast
Just make sure to paté-up your toast repetitively before each bite :)
Escargot
-Baked French Snails in Pesto, Garlic & Butter.
Snails/escargots are one of those delicacies that people either love, adore or simply do not like. It’s your choice but for me - it’s something that I am ok to leave out in my order when I make a trip to Topshelf next time.

Throwback yesterday lunch at @tutsmy Wangsa Walk Mall together with both my lecturers, Dr. Ashril and Dr. Khong.
Tut short for Tutankhamen, was a monarch that once ruled ancient Egypt over 3,000 years ago.
@tutsmy is an Egyptian Eatery Restaurant, serving traditional favourites dishes faithful to homemade recipes passed down from family to family.
We ordered Grilled Chicken Bechamel Combo, Bamya Lam Stew, Lamb Hawaoshi Foldover as the main dishes and Creamy Konafa as the dessert, also not forget about the Egyptian Lemon Mint as the drinks.
Here are the reviews:
We rated Grilled Chicken Bechamel a 9.5/10 due to it's superb taste, well-cooked, well seasoned. Eat it together with the sauce is definitely a great match. You can even eat it without sauce due to it well seasoned way of preparing the chicken. Plus, we do love the nutty sauce! It also comes with a mini Bechamel Chicken Pasta.
*We look forward to try out other grill chickens dishes.
We rated Bamya Lamb Stew a 7/10 due to several reason. The taste of it is good, sauce wise is good as well but the lamb portion is slightly less. We recommend others to get the garlic bread as their sides, so that you can dip into the sauce.
*We recommend that the lamb should be marinated before cooking it as the flavor of the meat is too blend.
We like the Lamb Hawaoshi Baked Foldover and we rated it an 8/10. Overall is good, sauce compliment it well with it and we love the mint sauce as it match well with the salad that we ordered as the side.
*The lamb feeling of it should be slightly more.
Here come the dessert, we like Creamy Konafa and rated it a 9/10. Excellent taste of it, and I personally like the crunchiness of it shredded vermicelli, especially it mixed with the cream.
*We recommend that the Konafa should have it in Hot and Cold option.
Regarding the drinks part, Egyptian Lemon Mint is a good choice! We do recommend that when you come to here next time. It mixed well, intense with flavor of mint and lemon, extra frothy and is refreshing once you drink it.

CREAMY CRAB PASTA with UNI and SHRIMP — why not uni pasta straight? Cos I can’t bring myself to cook any of my favourite uni!!!
So I received quite a number of queries about first the UNI (this one is oh so delicious super sweet and creamy one bite size plus one piece instantly elevates the whole dining experience but friends who asked I gotta say sorry next time I buy I try to buy more k 😅) and second the RECIPE so here it is ~~
I used brown crab it’s huge with lotsa lotsa roe and meat perfect for making pasta.
1. Steam the crab, separate roe and meat, press the roe into powder form and tear the meat (aiya I forgot to sprinkle some remaining on top of my pasta as finishing touch I Gan Cheong)
2. Hot your pan with olive oil stir fry some chopped garlic and spring onions
3. Pour the roe into the pan, cook for a while then pour the crab meat in, can add some white wine, add the remaining of the steam crab juice into the mix, and finally add cooking cream. If you like it wet you can add some pasta water but I prefer it dry. Add basil leaf to balance up the creamy flavour. I didn’t have so I added some fennel some Italian herbs and some lemon zest into the mix, then flavour accordingly. I think u can cut some dried chilli into it also, just a touch so it doesn’t change the flavour just to balance it up.
4. The shrimp honestly I added just because I wanted to eat and seafood family can gel. Just pan fry with butter and it alr taste amazing, sprinkle some salt and pepper while drying will do. Uni no need do anything la it is heaven.
5. Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on top but not too much cos the dish is alr creamy to begin with.
Plating u do whatever u like la if u have some greens like parsley to dress it up it’ll look nicer lor. But I was hungry so that’s all haha.
Simple dish that impresses easily, have fun cooking!
