“You shall observe to do all the commandments which I command you today, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers. You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today; lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses, and lived in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with venomous snakes and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who poured water for you out of the rock of flint; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end: and lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.” But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.” (Deuteronomy 8:1-18 WEB)

The Lord gave me a word “scorpions” which led me to this passage.

I sense that a lot of us here have been through a long wilderness journey where we have been asking God “How long more,” and we are already close to entering our promised land.

As we are about to enjoy His marvelous restoration and multiplication of provision in our lives, in whatever way He has been leading you, REMEMBER HIM when you go into the land flowing with milk and honey.

Don’t forget all the precious lessons about humility and faith that you learned while in the dry wilderness.

Money can be destructive because the sinful flesh is tempted to make money its idol.

Keep your eyes on Jesus…

There is a reason why things take time. The preparation phase is needed so that you would be able to handle the sudden multiplication.

Despite all the tough times, God has always been faithful to you, and you are still alive. Give thanks to Him!

Under the New Covenant of Grace, to keep God’s commandments means to believe in Jesus Christ and to love one another as Christ has loved us. Will you allow yourself to continue being led by the Spirit to walk in love, even after you have prospered?

I say again, REMEMBER HIM. Okay, now go and possess your promised land. The Lord shall go before you, and you will approach it one step at a time with each passing day!

It Shall Not Come Near You!

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:” (1 Peter‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

As a born-again believer, you are set apart unto God as His own precious possession. The word “holy” means to be set apart for God’s special purposes.

The devil wants everyone to be focused on the bad things that are happening in the world. He will direct you to look at the one case of a terrible tragedy, when it’s just a rare occurrence.

For example, as a parent, when you send your child to childcare, one concern may be whether the teachers will really take good care of your child, or will they secretly abuse him/her when no one is looking.

This issue is close to my heart because I clearly remember how my teachers in preschool were very rough and mean towards me. During shower time, they just kept spraying the stream of water, not caring that I was struggling to breathe. They took out their stress and frustrations on the children in school.

Online, you can read about other terrible cases of abuse in schools, and incidents like that may cause you to feel fearful and think that it could happen to your child.

Quickly catch yourself when you are having fleshly thoughts of fear and worry like that. Remind yourself that you are God’s special possession and that He will surely take care of everything that concerns you.

“A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes, and see the recompense of the wicked.” (Psalms‬ ‭91:7-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Declare, “Bad things like that may happen to the world, but God’s word says that a thousand may fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand, but it shall not come near me. I am sanctified, and God’s treasured possession!”

When the devil came to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus quoted the Scriptures as a weapon against those temptations. That is one tactic you can use to overcome the devil’s lies. Store God’s word in your heart and in crucial moments, the Holy Spirit can bring it to your remembrance to give you help in the time of need. I wrote this song inspired and based on 1 Peter 5:6-9, and it's my way of expressing the essence of what it's like believing in God.

I included a range of clips; from worship concerts to chilling in our youth room to Hillsong concerts TO ELLIE GOULDING concerts to washed out concerts to my trip in japan to bonfires; anyway, it represents how no matter where we are and how toxic our environment is- God is with us.

"6) Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7) Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8) Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9) Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings."
