【狗狗小鎮的生活翻式】軼(念一' 不念ㄉ一ㄝˊ)事 & 角色
故事提案( proposal)的階段作/繪者提出一個故事想法、想法的草圖和角色的設計等等相對完整的資料去說服編輯，這裡說的完整不是只在作品圖上的完成度，而是故事和發想上的準備與過程，根據這些資料，他們可以由其發展性與可能性與繪者做更多討論和決定。
角色設計是其中很重要的一環，根據我認識很多繪者表示，在想不出故事的時候，他們就畫角色作為創作故事的暖身。於此可見，創造出一個有說服力的角色就很重要。角色也是吸引讀者進入故事世界的主要媒介之一。這些角色是當初我為最初的故事所設計的，雖然後來的故事已經改變了，這些角色對我來說仍然還活在我的Sketchbook裡。
An author/illustrator often propose to an editor with their well-prepared story ideas, idea sketches, character sketches and any many others in order to convince them for putting it through to a publication plan. The publisher editor then can start a conversation with the illustrator discussing a possibility of the story idea and development. At this stage, brainstorming is important to how the book will be determined.
Let's talk about one of the important elements in a progress of making a picturebook. According to many of illustrators, they often come up a story idea from making massive character sketches. This shows to create a convincing character is one of the most decisive facts to a children's picture book. Moreover, characters often catch readers the very first eyesight and unconsciously introduce it to readers in a better vision. Although, my original story and character didn't end up accepted, they are still living in my sketchbooks.
