2 years today @sirhanwahab popped back into my life after the last time I saw him was way back when we were in secondary school. While accompanying a mutual friend to my place for my little Raya do, on the 13th of June 2019 he sent me a DM on @instagram and as fate would have it, here we are sitting on our sofa in our home here in Dubai looking at our beautiful wedding album by @glamorouscapture ??
The album was ready over a year ago but due to the pandemic we weren’t able to return home to Malaysia as initially planned but when I recently did get the chance earlier this year, this was one of the items I decided to bring back especially because I wanted to share the first time of unboxing it with Sirhan naturally.
Thank you @i.am.muz of @glamorouscapture for the magnificent pre-wedding photographs that were shot at #MemorialTunkuAbdulRahman and of course the fantastic pictures taken during the Khatam Quran as well as the Nikah ceremony.

My first solo wedding in awhile. David and Beatrice are a beautiful couple that had their wedding in an equally gorgeous location, Janda Baik in Malaysia. It was a smooth sailing day and hardly any hiccups. Such a treat an honour to film their wedding.

TECHNICAL ASPECT:
This was the first time shooting a full day video shoot with the Canon 1DX Mark iii. Wanted to step away from the whole "cinematic wedding" video and start developing a documentary style of wedding videos and I'm really happy with how everything turned out! Used a 24MM F1.4 ii, 35MM F1.4ii, 100mm F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8.
The whole piece felt much nicer when graded a little softer. Used Film Convert with a Kodak Portra 400 look. The camera performed very well but like all log footage, don't underexpose. Still wasn't fully well versed with the camera so I made some slight mistakes with white balance and exposure on a few shots. Overall very happy with the image quality and usability of the camera!

I love street photography and I love it when my camera can get out of the way of the process to allow me to get into the moment, knowing that I'll be able to get the shot no matter what. I personally enjoy listening to perspective on why people choose a specific camera to shoot as it gives me insight to their creative process.
Shooting with the 1DX Mark III is both a blessing and a curse at times. On one hand you have incredible and consistent images but at the cost of the weight and size. In this video I talk about why I personally choose to shoot with this beautiful camera and discuss a little on why I think smaller cameras don't really make a difference shooting on the street.
