🍃 Baisakhi, also called Vaisakhi, is known as the harvest festival of Punjab. People across religions celebrate it. Other than marking the season of harvest, Baisakhi also has religious significance for the Sikhs. Baisakhi marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year.

🍃 Celebrated on the first day of Medam or the Malayalam month or between April and May of the Gregorian calendar, Vishu symbolises the spring season's beginning. Vishu, a Hindu festival, is celebrated in Kerala as the harvest festival and the astrological New Year of the Malayalis. Vishu indicates the sun's movement to Aries or the Mesha Rashi and marks the day from which the farmers begin the ploughing of land and other agricultural activities.

Millions of Sikhs around the world will celebrate the centuries-old festival of Vaisakhi this week, one of the most important dates in the Sikh calendar. The festival marks several important dates, including the spring harvest festival, the Punjabi New Year and the year Sikhism was born as a collective faith in 1699.
