DAY 4 - UK SIA RQF Level 3 Close Protection Operative. IMMEDIATE ACTION DRILLS

When I signed up for this course, I had moments where I thought to myself ""what on earth were you thinking"". Then I would proceed to imagine my shoulder popping out again or getting a swollen face from a fist fight..... Turns out this course wasn't as ""mental"" as I thought it would be as it is designed to equip the person with understanding the nature, protocols and responsibilities of the job. Immediate action drills are done so that the operative knows how to deal with an immediate situation according to his/her assigned role in order to avoid a scuffle. And you all know when: SCUFFLE = FAIL. I had an immense amount of fun being the sneaky villain because of course being the villain is my forte. Note to all villains: No point throwing yourself against a large man. Instead, weave between the large men to get optimal reach of the vulnerable VIP.

DAY 6 - UK SIA RQF Level 3 Close Protection Operative. VEHICLE SEARCH

Ever seen movies where the car explodes when the ignition is turned on? Those are apparently one of many devices we were taught to search for during this session. Its crazy how people would go lengths to hide devices to spy on their target and I couldn't believe how easy these things can be to obtained online. During this process, we learned the vehicle protocol of "Search, Secure and Guard" and it took me ages to go through all the steps. You can imagine what it felt like when I was looking into the engine bay, my mind drew a blank and it reminded me how useless I was with car mechanics!

This course is particularly useful for those who own a security business and would need to know if their bodyguards have the experience and knowledge to carry out their protective services.

DAY 7 - UK SIA RQF Level 3 Close Protection Operative. EMBUS & DEBUS DRILLS

On this module, we were taught the duties of the different roles in the close protection team during entering and exiting vehicles. We also drilled on CONTACT situation where we had to react and protect our VIP during an attack. The best part of this exercise was when I got to shove a person into the car at fast pace to get out of danger (Imagine all the bloopers!) If you ever sign up for this course, my advise to you is check that the person is fully in the car before slamming the door. My sincere apologies to Sas! I hope your foot feels better......

@aimanyusof and I may not have military experience however we both have martial arts background. I am glad that I am able to share my experience with someone from the same field! Oss! My team comprised of people with different backgrounds and I am proud to be working with them.
