The pandemic has brought home the hard work of our food delivery riders. Day and night, rain or shine, they are out and about, getting our orders to us while we work from home, or when dining-in restrictions are in force.
His personal experience as a food delivery rider inspired Muhammad Ruzhael Marwazi from Institute of Technical Education, Singapore College Central to create this touching a short film called “Kejar” (or chase in Malay). It tells of the challenges delivery riders face as they “chase” as many orders as they can in a day.
Ruzhael’s film won the Best Direction Award (Student Category) at this year's ciNE65 Movie Maker Awards. These Awards are organised by NEXUS, Ministry of Defence, Singapore (MINDEF), which aims to capture our Singapore identity through the lens of our young filmmakers.
Congratulations to Ruzhael and all the ciNE65 Movie Makers Awards winners! You can watch the other winning short films here: https://go.gov.sg/5j3uk0
Let's continue to be grateful to food delivery riders, and the delivery personnel who keep things running. – LHL

This short film, "Taiwan - Where I Want to Be", by French director Florian Payrou won first prize in the open category of this year's Trending Taiwan潮台灣 film competition. It has perhaps aged a little too well, given that #Taiwan remains relatively untouched by the COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the rest of the world.
One good thing that has come out of the pandemic is that more Taiwanese and foreign residents have explored this island they call home more than they ever had before. They now see Taiwan with the eye of an outsider looking in at its majestic beauty, just as Florian saw it.
Despite the pandemic, we're still working hard with #LikeMinded partners like #France on issues of mutual concern, as the opening of our new office in #Provence yesterday suggests.

here's an insight into what a line producer does which i'll summarise it to make it easier for people to understand: we're basically the event managers of the entire production. I was just a line producer when I was still working at this company so I didn't go into depth of every aspect of creating a tv commercial. Nevertheless it was a wonderful and eye opening experience working in such field and I can't wait to be back soon :)
p/s - if my ex colleagues or bosses watches this video i- sksksks im shy pls shh ANDDD that adult swim trend that has been going around lately has been so interesting, i just had to jump in the bandwagon hehe so fun!
Anywaaaays, the behind the scenes that you saw in this video was from the commercial for Petronas Gawai 2021 but I was not a line producer here. I was a DIT (Digital Imaging Technician): the person who transcodes video formats into suitable resolution for the television. You can watch the film here: https://youtu.be/L8BfaBjR8Lc
Here are the commercials that I line produced:

Weekend. Raining. Work had been hectic. Needed to take some time off to recharge. Covid. WFH. Blurred lines between work and personal time. No time to shut off from work completely. Found myself working from screens to screen. Laptop to phone. Even leisure is watching videos online.
In need of time for a digital detox.
Found a bookstore that was opened in Feb this year, in the heart of Orchard Road, Wheelock Place. Where the Borders flagship used to be. If you know what I’m talking about, you’re from my time. I recall the times when I was still in secondary school, hanging at Borders with my friends who love reading, and I will be there checking out the CDs.
Heard that it has a 2 storey space with a cafe and gallery as well. Heard that the ones in China open 24hours, although it’s not happening in SG yet
——
Zall Bookstore, an outlet with more than 30,000 books mostly in Chinese, also has a cafe and art gallery
——
“Ms Laura Yan Ge, 24, who is general manager of the Singapore store, said at a media preview on Friday that while the company did not anticipate the coronavirus outbreak erupting amid its expansion, it believes bookstores are especially vital during a pandemic.
‘Because of Covid-19, there is a lot of distance between people nowadays," she said in Mandarin. "We believe books will help to close this gap. They provide food for thought and people can use them to widen their worlds.’”
—
As a creator myself, I need to constantly find inspiration.
While I can readily find all sorts of information online, sometimes I found my mind being constantly overloaded instead. We read. Socialise. We basically live most parts of our lives in the virtual world, and now we have lesser and lesser reasons to get out there anymore.
So, why a new book store? When was the last time you visited a book store?
Being here made me realised that it’s not about the books. It’s about the space. It’s about the experience. It’s about being here and being present. And what happens when you unplug from the internet and be present in the moment? You’ll get involuntarily intrigued by the surroundings, the people, the architecture, the noise, the beauty of it all. You’ll find headspace. You’ll find your inspiration. You’ll even find a new you.
When was the last time you stepped outside, set aside time just for yourself, and experience life beyond the screen?

I wonder if the aroma of freshly baked gingerbread cookies
reminds you of family gatherings.
Or if the smell of a steaming cup of hot cocoa
reminds you of peaceful nights and warmth.
Those were great moments, right.
But some scents are just capable of triggering other memories.
The ones you were trying hard to forget.
Don’t you agree?

Lyrics:
It’s almost December
I missed the cold weather
Feeling warm at the fire place
Coming up with silly games
I will remember
Your comfy old sweater
All our jolly Christmas Eves
When it was just u and me
Not until you changed your mind
Oh that we were not fate assigned
You go on and I’ll be fine
Being home alone this year , cause
This is the season,
for snowfall and presents.
Don’t bring me my favourite scent,
if you’re leaving it by the door.
I don’t need a reason ,
a reminder of your presence.
I’m taking down all our decorations,
cause It just don’t feel like Christmas.
It’s almost November,
your vaguely written letter.
Left it by the box of ornaments,
just to be seen.
Oh I will remember,
your cherry sweet fragrance.
With the traces of our memories,
that’ll be long gone.
This is the season,
for snowfall and presents.
Don’t bring me my favourite scent,
if you’re leaving it by the door.
I don’t need a reason ,
a reminder of your presence ,
I’m taking down all our decoration,
cause It just don’t feel like Christmas.
