"Remember this, that very little is needed to make a happy life."
That is my philosophy in life and something I try to instill in my kids, which is why year after year, I insist on giving them only simple but unique gifts on this day to show my ❤. Yup, 妈妈对你们的爱其实很简单,却又无与伦比.
This year, we have been doing upcycling projects at home so I thought of doing these for them. All I used were recycled glass bottles, paper shreds to fill them up, satay sticks wrapped in washi tape, a printout of their photo and a customised message, along with many different mini origami folded using coloured paper.
Let's see, we have a heart, a bat, a penguin, a snail, a crane and a butterfly for each of them and they were really surprised and over the moon to receive them early this morning. They knew each origami was made with my love for them and that was all it mattered.
We then made our way out to have kuey chap for brunch where the kids scooted for 2.4km while I walked (that is how it is after the big girl took over my scooter and we are already blessed to have three) and we had an afternoon of fun exploring a couple of outdoor playgrounds. It may be a simple way to spend the day yet our hearts are full.
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend too! Happy Children's Day, everyone! May all the kids have a blast and may all of us stay young at heart no matter how we age. 祝周末愉快!

Shi Xiang Satay first started out by on the streets. No matter how things changed, the stall always stayed in chinatown. They didn’t have a name back then, so their customers helped them come up with one.
Opened in 1955, Shi Xiang Satay has seen generations of customers come and go. Now, it is run by Young, the original owner’s son. He learnt how to make satay from his mother, who learnt the craft from her husband.
Every satay is marinated for at least 24 hours to ensure that they’re tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and savoury pork satay. The layer of fat helped to moisten the nicely grilled meat and added a soft crunch. There were some charred bits that give it a sweet smokiness.
The key difference between other types of satay and Hainanese satay is the sauce. The peanut sauce usually comes with a small dollop of pineapple puree which adds a slight acidity and sweetness to the peanut sauce.

Happy Weekends fellow homecooks! Today, we will be sharing our version of Thai Chicken Satay. Satay is one of the most popular street foods in Thailand! More often than not, they are made with pork. But, it can also be done using chicken or beef.
Don’t you just miss the joy of eating satay in the Night Markets of Bangkok? Or even visiting ArtBox with your friends to have some delicious street food?
Now, you can invite some friends (within the Covid-19 limitation) and rediscover this experience in the kitchen from your home :)
We made a simple dipping sauce at the side with fresh cut chillies, soy sauce or fish sauce, cilantro as well as some salt and sugar to your own preference.

This was an old video from our homemade egg tofu series. We have cut the process of making egg tofu from scratch into a standalone video to benefit those of you who might be keen to learn how to make egg tofu at home.
In case you're wondering the difference between regular tofu and egg tofu is mainly the addition of eggs. Personally I prefer egg tofu over regular tofu because the latter often has this stinky taste that I really do not like. Egg tofu on the other hand has a really nice egg fragrant and the texture is really wonderful. If you have never tried egg tofu, now you have the option to make it yourself at home.
See the ingredient list below for your easy reference.
We would like to give special thanks to Shogun by La Gourmet for letting us try out their high quality non-stick pan in the video respectively. If you like to buy them, you can go to any of the major departmental stores in Singapore such as Isetan, Robinsons, Takashimaya, BHG, OG, Metro or Tangs. These two brands are also available in most major departmental stores in Malaysia.
Hope you can recreate this yummy dish in the comfort of your home. Thanks for dropping by our channel.
