🔸 What is 3MT？
「三分鐘英語學術簡報競賽」源起於澳洲昆士蘭大學，是一項國際性研究簡報競賽旨在鼓勵研究生深入淺出地分享其學術研究成果，首重與不同背景聽眾間之交流。
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition originates from the University of Queensland in Australia, and encourages graduate students to share their research in a clear and engaging form that can be understood by a wide audience.

為有效提升參賽者之學術表達能力，寫作教學中心每年皆於報名前開辦「賽前講堂－學術簡報技巧攻略」，無論是否參賽，皆歡迎同學踴躍報名，亦請老師們鼓勵所指導的研究生參與競賽。

If you would like to improve your presentation and academic communication skills in preparation for this competition, the Academic Writing Education Center will host presentation training seminars prior to the 3MT competition. These training seminars are open to everyone, regardless of whether or not you have decided to participate in this competition. 2017 3MT臺灣大學、臺灣師範大學、臺灣科技大學三校戰況激烈，參賽者表現優異，今年2018 3MT三校再戰，期待三校同學們以深入淺出的方式分享個人的研究成果，在交流中迸出不同的火花！

「三分鐘英語學術簡報競賽」源起於澳洲昆士蘭大學，是一項國際性研究簡報競賽，已在劍橋大學、紐約大學、香港大學等全球高等學府舉辦。本校寫作教學中心於2015首獲3MT授權，第三屆臺灣大學系統學校的加入更激發了研究生走上舞台的熱情，亦展現了大家優異的組織與口說能力。今年第四屆優勝者將有機會站上國際舞台，為校爭光！

為有效提升參賽者之學術表達能力，寫作教學中心每年皆於報名前開辦「賽前講堂」，這是一個讓您手中的寶刀再上油、磨光的機會！歡迎同學踴躍報名，亦請老師們鼓勵所指導的研究生參與或賽程觀摩。

NTU and the NTU Academic Writing Education Center present the 2018 Three-Minute Thesis competition, which will be held this year on May 11 on the NTU Campus. This year will be a rematch among presenters from three universities of the NTU System — National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. All graduate researchers with interesting research projects are invited to compete.

This year, the winners will also have the opportunity to attend international 3MT events to win the glory for their school. With the 2018 3MT Competition coming soon, the NTU System invites you to showcase your research in plain English and in only three minutes. The deadline for video submission is April 23 at 12:00 noon. Start preparing now!

To better prepare the participants for the competition, three presentation training seminars will be held prior to registration at each competing school. This is a great opportunity for you to hone your presentation skills and learn how to design a great 3MT presentation. Just sign up!

【演講王的準備 SOP】
　
決定演講主題後，我準備的過程依序是搜集資料、擬定架構、繪圖、做投影片、寫講稿、朗讀、精簡、背誦、再精簡、錄影練習與實地預演。
　
收集資料其實是相對輕鬆的部份，畢竟是自己熟悉的領域，也聽過幾場大師的演講，把參考文獻抓下來就大致完成了。
　
擬定架構時，我參考了兩份 3 minute thesis (3MT) 的參賽指引：
　
•3 MT: The Three Minute Thesis.
•How to win the 3 minute thesis.
　
分為開頭、內文和結尾三部份，內文使用 5W1H 的形式，先丟出疑問句，隨後提出解答。
　
繪圖和做投影片原本就是我熱衷的，因此進行得很開心，就像養小孩一樣看著作品逐漸完備成熟。先前在新思惟學到的科學圖表與簡報製作技巧，也一一派上用場。
　
寫講稿就開始痛苦了，3 MT 的建議是：
　
1.短字、短句、短段落，開頭勾起觀眾的興趣和好奇心。
2.語氣主動，避免術語和縮寫，不要假定觀眾無所不知。
3.結尾喚起行動、前後呼應，先多寫再濃縮。
　
開始背誦後，發現速度比看著稿唸慢得多，所以又刪刪改改修到剩三百多字。這個過程很像廣告理論的「意象濃縮」，也像攝影構圖強調的「減法藝術」，要簡單卻又不簡略，必需一再檢視內容，決定取捨。
