This is a Japan scenic spot you can only enjoy in the spring!
Registered as a World Heritage Site last year, the landscape of shibazakura blossoms spreading at the foot of Mt. Fuji is truly luxurious.

Period: April 19 - June 1, 2014
Location: Fuji Lake Motosu Resort, one of the Fuji Five Lakes.
At this flower festival, you can enjoy approximately 80 million shibazakura blossoms (the largest in the Tokyo metropolitan area) in the shadow of World Heritage site, Mt. Fuji. Trains with direct access to the site will be operated.

There are many things to do around Mount Fuji that a lot of people miss, so here is a video showing you what you can do around Mount Fuji and some ideas for easy trips from Tokyo!

I went to the 3 neighbouring prefectures of Mt Fuji - Yamanashi Prefecture, Shizuoka Prefecture, and Kanagawa Prefecture.
They are easy to get to for weekend trips or day trips from Tokyo too!

The Fuji Shibazakura Festival is held every year from April to May in Kawaguchiko, a region two hours west of Tokyo. It is an easy day trip from Tokyo.
