🀄 塔利班會把阿富汗帶回過去嗎？

"Thanks to God you are come," shouted an old man as my colleagues and I marched into Kabul on 14 November 2001, battling our way through the joyful crowds.

📌 2001 年 11 月 14 日，當我和我的同事們走進喀布爾時，一位老人喊道：“感謝上帝，你來了。” ，我們在歡樂的人群中艱難跋涉。

The anti-Taliban(塔利班) forces of Afghanistan's Northern Alliance, which had the backing of the US and other Western countries, had halted(停止) on the city outskirts, and the Taliban had simply run for it.

Five years of the most extreme religious dictatorship(獨裁政府) in recent times were over. Under the Taliban, Afghanistan(阿富汗) had become a black hole in which all sorts of extremism(極端主義) could thrive(滋生).

Only two months earlier the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington had been planned and guided by Osama Bin Laden and his al-Qaeda movement. It simply never occurred to me then that Taliban could make a comeback(捲土重來).

Nevertheless President Ghani would still be in his palace and the army would be driving round in its expensive Western vehicles, if Donald Trump had not decided that he needed a foreign policy success before the 2020 election.

Several Afghan politicians(政客) and journalists(記者) I know were horrified by the conclusion of the US talks with the Taliban political leadership in Doha in February 2020, and doubly so when President Joe Biden made it clear he was going to stick to it.

I was warned that no matter how moderate and peaceable the leaders in Doha might promise to be, the Taliban fighters on the ground would feel no compulsion(強迫) to observe the fine print.
And so it proved.

Directly after the US, British and other Western troops(軍隊) began pulling out(撤退), the Taliban fighters across Afghanistan made their play for power. Reports of prisoners being executed(被處決) brought an atmosphere of blind panic in one town after another, until Kabul itself succumbed(屈服) and officials and soldiers were battling(爭鬥) their way to the airport to get out.

This weekend I spent some time reflecting on the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) event that 台灣世代智庫 Taiwan NextGen Foundation partnered on last week, the CALD Youth Political Academy, where we had the opportunity to interact with politically active citizens from many #NSP countries.

Although the Academy was fully online this year, it was a great opportunity to build people-to-people ties between our like-minded organizations and do our part in solidifying the institutional backing of liberal values in our region of the world.

There is a strong emphasis on gamification at the Academy this year, a tool for enhancing or stimulating political action that is particularly suited to our current circumstances.

The CYPA is ongoing, but as for our tier of the program, I believe the hard work of all the CALD team as well as our own efforts not only made our tier run smoothly in a new format but truly provided an opportunity for political networking. With that in mind, a special thanks to Audrie Semeona Frias, Program Officer at CALD and Marcin Jerzewski, Research Fellow at TNF and primary facilitator for our tier, for their efforts on this program!

回顧上週台灣世代智庫與亞洲自由民主聯盟 (Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, CALD) 合作舉辦的 CALD 青年政治學院 (CALD Youth Political Academy, CYPA) 活動，獲得了與不同新南向國家中，同樣熱衷於政治事務朋友互動的機會。

雖然今年改為全線上舉辦，但這仍然是我們與志同道合的組織之間，建立人與人之間的聯繫的大好機會，並透過此活動於我們這個地區，在鞏固制度對自由價值的支持上盡我們的一份心力。

今年的活動在「遊戲化」上有特別著墨：而以我們目前的情況看來，這項工具將在對政治行動給予鼓舞、賦權尤為適合。

CYPA 在目前還是個進行式，但對於我們計劃的這個階段來說，我相信 CALD 團隊與我們在此所做的不懈付出不只讓我們這個階段得以順利地以嶄新的形式進行，更確實地讓我們在拓展政治界的人際網絡上看到了新機。

有鑒於此，我對 CALD 的項目負責人 Audrie Semeona Frias 與台灣世代智庫研究員及本階段的主要主持人葉皓勤 (Marcin Jerzewski) 為本計畫所付出的努力表示由衷的感謝！

創作起因來自與音樂圈好友的深夜對話，有一些對作品成績不如預期的感傷，也有一些對網路世代人人都是鍵盤俠的感嘆。
誰不想當巨星be somebody？誰又天生自帶黑特防護罩？市場喜好就是個「迷因」… 而此刻，比起在意他人對結果的評論，更珍惜享受的是與志同道合的人們一起創作音樂的過程。

13歲進入唱片經紀公司做訓練生，大人們問他想做什麼？當時Patrick就毫不猶豫地回答「當歌手、做DJ」！多年過去，信念始終未曾改變。
