Tip No. 16: Be the Comedian You Wanted to See, Be the comedian you wanted to see.Think about the things that you wished someone made jokes about when you sat in the audience. Make a list of topics and ideas that you’d be excited to see someone discuss. Become that comedian. You’ve got 30 years.
Gary’s thoughts on Tip No. 16: This one can guide every decision and choice you make regarding your jokes, your act, and behavior on and off stage.
Tip No. 37: My favorite writer Kurt Vonnegut said he wrote for an audience of one, his sister Alice. I write for a 21-year-old me. Today, think about your ideal audience member. This should help you narrow your writing focus and help you find your voice.
提示37:
我最愛的作家Kurt Vonnegut說過他只為了一個觀眾而寫,就是他姐姐Alice。我是為了21歲的我。現在,想想看你的理想觀眾類型,這可以幫助你找到寫作方向,找到你的聲音
Tip No. 113: Be aware of the constraints your appearance may put on jokes. For example, if you’re really attractive, it can be hard to convince the audience that you’re having a hard time finding a date. Wearing expensive clothes will contradict claims of poverty.
提示113:小心你外表對你笑話的限制。比如說,如果你超帥/漂亮,就很難說服觀眾說你找不到約會對象。穿得一身名牌就很難跟別人說你很窮。
Tip No. 211: “The world makes way for the man who knows where he is going.” — Emerson. Where are you going? Define your mission. Be specific. It will guide how you spend your time.
提示211:「如果你知道你的方向,世界會幫你開路。」-Emerson。你要去哪裡?明確地定義你的去向,這會引導你如何運用你的時間。
Tip No. 228: Assuming a persona/character onstage? Once again, Kurt Vonnegut says it perfectly: “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be very careful what we pretend to be.” — Mother Night.
提示228:建立一個舞台上的人設?再一次,Kurt Vonnegut說得很好:「我們假扮的人就是我們,所以我們要非常小心地去假扮我們想假扮的人。」-Mother Night.
Tip No. 242: In 2018, I struggled during an early iteration of The Great Depresh. The club manager showed me negative comment cards, one of which said: “DON’T TALK ABOUT DEPRESSION!!!” Don’t ever let one audience decide the fate of a joke or your path.
Tip No. 280: I think in order to become other people’s favorite comedian you have to strive to be your own favorite comedian. This means enjoying your topics, your takes, your presentation. Am I my favorite? Close, I’m right behind Todd Glass and Brian Regan.
Tip No. 356: Don’t compromise your beliefs to get a laugh. I’ve done it and I cringe at the memory. You didn’t get into this to suppress your identity. Have faith that you’ll think of something more honest.
提示356:不要為了笑聲跟你的信念妥協。我曾經試過,而我不敢再回想起那段回憶。你不是為了壓抑自己才入這行的。保持自己的信念才能講出你自己也確信的話。

I'm creating this post because, after so many questions answered, I see that certain people are still very confused and/ or pretty deep in the dark.
I'd just like to set the record straight, (FROM MY POINT OF VIEW), on the whole Dark Nights Metal figures, pre-orders and so on.
Nr.1 - On July 3rd, FOUR DC Multiverse figures were put up for pre-order on Walmarts website: Dawnbreaker (Batman Earth-32), Murder Machine (Batman Earth-44), Devastator (Batman Earth-1) and the Grim Knight!
Nr.2 - In their Walmart titles/ names, it says that they are 'Walmart Exclusives'... FOR NOW, beyond that, pretty much nobody knows anything more!
Here's my opinion on the matter: It might be bull, but I'll write it down anyways: Because Mr. McFarlane and McFarlane Toys have a contract with Walmart, because of that, maybe the pre-orders are exclusive to them. That doesn't mean, that later on, the other big websites won't have these figures for pre-order... OR... that they won't be available EVERYWHERE, starting October 2020!
I mean, in yesterday's video, Mr. McFarlane didn't mention anything like 'that these are and will be available only through Walmart and through their entire run! No! He just mentioned that the four figures/ characters (mentioned at Nr.1) are NOW available for pre-order at Walmart!
This might be a 'chase' fiasco all over again. This exclusive can mean more things. Personally, A.K.A, it's just my humble opinion, maybe only the pre-orders are exclusive to them.
And if you think about it, and if I remember, Walmart was always the first to put up the pre-orders for this line - ergo, because of their partnership.
Since yesterday, Devastator and The Grim Knight went out of stock. They are not available for pre-order anymore. Only Dawnbreaker and Murder Machine!
Nr.3 - When it comes to the whole Red Death thing - Yesterday morning, pretty early on, after I posted the 'Mr. Todd McFarlane - Promoting and showing off the figures' video, the folks at McFarlane Toys also updated their main page with the 'Pre-Order Now At Walmart' picture, which included the Red Death figure as well.
(the picture of which I've cropped the figure from - the whole picture can be seen, here, if you scroll a bit down - or if you access my 'Timeline Photos' folder)
For a few long hours, the picture has been on the website, but there hasn't been a Red Death action figure pre-order AT ALL!
After I've posted the 'now, that the Red Death figure has been officially revealed, AND overseas it looks like it'll be in a two-pack with a Flash figure', right after that, the pre-order/ promotional picture has been taken down...
SO, what I'm trying to say about all of this, is that, SO FAR, ONLY the FOUR Metals figures have been up for pre-order. Only two are available since then. (Dawnbreaker & Murder Machine)
They have been ONLY posted on the Walmart website, out of all the big ones.
(Some smaller stores also had the FOUR for pre-order, which I've also posted about. If you'd like, I can still help you out with that.)
The Red Death action figure has NEVER been up for pre-order anywhere AND more information is yet to come!
So, I'd like to ask you dear friends and collectors, have a little patience. Let's see how things turn out. I don't think, McFarlane Toys is a company to annoy people with very limited runs of figures and pre-orders. Especially when it comes to the DC figures. I mean, look at all the previous waves, they have been available EVERYWHERE in the world and they still are. Well, most of them anyways.
The 'Stay Home Comic Con' is right around the corner, so, I"M 100% sure that everything WILL BE answered and I"M SURE that more reveals are also on the way. About the two packs, Red Death, the leaks and so on.
I just wanted to clear some things up with you.
And again, to make it clear... THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION on the matter and how I've lived through all of this. I'm not affiliated with McFarlane Toys in any way shape or form. I'm not a spokesperson. I don't work for them.
I just like to be extremely informed when it comes to these great figures and I'm just an extremely passionate geek and fan! That's why I've created my page as well.
If literally anything new is posted, you'll know from me, HERE, on my Facebook page. Well, on my Instagram page as well. (@pzahui)
So guys, just have a little patience! :D

Allen Iverson is scoring points in bunches again, which is never a good sign for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Iverson scored 46 points but it was not enough to overcome the surprising Orlando Magic, who got a big game from Pat Garrity in a 110-105 victory.
Iverson reached 40 points for the ninth time in his career and the 76ers have lost eight of those games. He scored 36 points in the second half but the Sixers (1-4) gave away the lead as the Magic -- a team with no stars -- used a balanced attack.
"Every time I score 40, the same thing happens," Iverson said. "So I would rather keep it under 40. I was just playing basketball. My teammates knew I was hot and just kept giving me the ball. Every team does that when a guy gets hot."
Garrity, the last player off Orlando's bench, tied his career high with 25 points on 10-of-11 shooting, mostly from outside. He scored nine points in the fourth quarter, including a clutch 3-pointer that gave Orlando (4-2) a 99-93 lead with 3:25 to go.
Darrell Armstrong had his hands full with Iverson but collected 20 points and 10 assists. He scored eight points in the final period, including a pair of key baskets down the stretch.
"You know when a guy gets confident, he starts looking over at the bench, starts sticking his tongue out," Armstrong said. "That was Allen. He got real comfortable. He scored all those points but still lost the game."
"We didn't play defense. I didn't play defense," Iverson said.
The Magic took the lead for good at 90-89 with 6:02 left on a floater by Monty Williams, who scored 12 points off the bench. Armstrong hit two free throws and Williams made another jumper before Armstrong shook off Iverson for a 20-footer and a 96-91 lead with 4:03 remaining.
Iverson buried a jumper but Garrity answered with his 3-pointer. George Lynch, who scored 15 points, followed in Iverson's miss, but rookie Corey Maggette made a jumper and Armstrong drove for a layup and a 103-95 bulge with 2:28 to go.
Lynch's dunk cut the deficit to 105-102 with 1:01 left but John Amaechi tipped in a missed layup by Armstrong 22 seconds later to seal the win.
"To overcome something like that, someone who was on fire tonight like Iverson, to win a game like that is a good one for us," Garrity said.
Tariq Abdul-Wahad scored 14 points and Amaechi added 13 off the bench for Orlando, which shot 51 percent (44-of-86) from the field and committed only 11 turnovers. The Magic's bench held a 59-25 scoring edge.
"I wish I could tell you it was me, but I can't," magic coach Doc Rivers said. "It's all about what they are doing and it is nothing about what I'm doing."
Rookie Todd MacCulloch had 10 points and 12 rebounds and Eric Snow handed out a season-high 10 assists for Philadelphia, which shot 47 percent (43-of-91) and held a 47-40 edge on the glass. The Sixers were without injured big men Theo Ratliff, Matt Geiger and Tyrone Hill.
"How many teams in the league play without their front line?" Sixers coach Larry Brown said. "We have not even practiced with the guys we are playing with. We give ourselves a chance to win every game and I think that's a positive."
"When we get Theo back we can get guys playing their normal positions," Lynch said.
Iverson made 18-of-33 shots, including 5-of-6 from behind the arc. He scored 37 points in Monday's win over Seattle but had more help from teammate Larry Hughes in that game. Hughes was held to seven points after collecting a career-high 27 against the SuperSonics.
"He came up big for us," Lynch said. "We just needed some guys to play a bigger role offensively. We did not get that tonight."
"He played great, he gave us a chance to win," Brown said. "I think he has got to improve defensively but he gave us a second chance to win. He was phenomenal."
The defending NBA scoring champion, Iverson was on fire in the third quarter. He collected 22 points over the final 8 1/2 minutes, sending Armstrong to the bench with foul trouble and scorching rookie replacement Chucky Atkins.
In a 74-second span, Iverson made a 3-pointer, a 22-footer from the corner and another 3-pointer, giving Philadelphia a 74-71 lead in the final minute of the period.
"I think that is the hottest I have ever been in my career," said Iverson, who made nine straight shots at one point. "That is the hottest ever."
Iverson and the Sixers got off to a slow start as the Magic opened a 18-6 lead on Armstrong's running jumper just over five minutes into the game. But Philadelphia closed to 25-24 after one quarter without any help from Iverson.
MacCulloch's layup gave the Sixers a 41-31 lead with 5:14 left in the second period but Garrity scored eight points the rest of the way as Orlando closed to 47-45 at halftime.

The league-leading Philadelphia 76ers
did not need their All-Star center or his backup to show the
defending NBA champions they are capable of usurping their
title.
With Theo Ratliff on the injured list and Matt Geiger suspended,
Allen Iverson outplayed Kobe Bryant and the 76ers used a platoon
of reserve centers to deal with Shaquille O'Neal en route to an
impressive 112-97 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
"We knew we were outmatched. We didn't have two of our big men,
but we just knew we had to come out and play some ball," Iverson
said after scoring 40 points and handing out nine assists in 40
minutes.
Iverson hit 14-of-29 shots and 10-of-11 free throws to reach 40
points for the seventh time in his last 11 games and the 11th
time this season. Bryant managed just 18 points while committing
six turnovers in 41 minutes.
"I don't approach the game like it's Kobe, and I want to have a
big game against him," Iverson said. "I want to play a good
game against everybody. When you play well against another great
player, it's only natural for you to feel good about the win.
But that's not the most important thing for me."
Ratliff likely is out until April with a broken wrist, but the
Sixers appeared to get some help in the paint when Geiger
returned from a 1 1/2-month layoff in Tuesday's 107-104 win at
Milwaukee. But Geiger received a two-game suspension for
violating the league's steroids policy earlier Wednesday,
leaving rookie Nazr Mohammed and second-year centers Todd
MacCulloch and Jumaine Jones to deal with O'Neal in the middle.
The trio combined for 26 points and 14 rebounds, helping offset
O'Neal's 29 points and 11 boards.
"I was thrilled, considering the news I got on the way to the
game that Matt wasn't playing against the Lakers with Shaq,"
Brown said of his center by committee rotation. "I had to put
two young kids (Mohammed and MacCullough) in a tough situation.
You look at Jumaine, Nazr and Todd's contribution, it was
amazing."
Tyrone Hill scored 12 points and Mohammed established a
season-high with 12 on 6-of-10 shooting and registered the
Sixers' lone block of the night. Ratliff leads the NBA with 187
blocks.
George Lynch scored 11 points for Philadelphia, which made half
of its 86 shots, held a 43-36 rebounding advantage and forced 17
turnovers while committing 11.
Brian Shaw scored 13 points and Isaiah Rider and Tyronn Lue
added 10 apiece for the Lakers, who shot 48 percent (39-of-81)
and were outscored, 22-13, at the line.
"It was a big game for them," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "I
haven't seen Larry Brown that animated on the court in a long
time. They were keyed for our ballclub."
A season-high 21,005 fans packed the First Union Center to see
the Sixers avenge a 96-85 loss to the defending champions on
December 5. The game featured six lead changes and three ties
and turned in Philadelphia's favor late in the first half.
"This was a gift to those people," Iverson said. "The defending
champions come in here and we knock them off. Hopefully, they
enjoyed it and had a good time. Hopefully, it's something they
can cherish."
Mohammed scored off a feed from Iverson, Lynch hit a free throw
and Jones followed with a basket, giving the Sixers a 55-48
halftime advantage.
The Lakers closed within four points three times in the third
quarter but the Sixers pulled away late in the period when
Iverson made a 14-footer, Snow drilled a 3-pointer and
McCullough scored to make it 82-70 entering the final period.
Iverson's two layups, sandwiched around a basket by Toni Kukoc,
gave Philadelphia an 89-72 cushion with 10:10 to play.
"They got all the loose balls, grabbed most of the rebounds and
they made their shots," O'Neal said. "Even though Iverson got
his points, the other guys contributed as well. We made a lot of
mistakes, we didn't take care of the ball and we didn't go after
loose balls like we should have. They just beat us."
Shaw's 3-pointer and a free throw by O'Neal shaved the deficit
to 10 midway through the period but Lynch made two free throws
and Iverson reeled off six straight points to make it 102-84
with 4:15 remaining.
"It's all about being a team," Iverson said. "We fight so hard
for each other. We pat each other on the back if someone messes
up. We are a team. We win together and lose together and that is
the most special thing about this team. There's no egos. We are
trying to win a championship."

The Orlando Magic were determined to cover Allen Iverson with one defender, a strategy that didn't stop the defending NBA champion but did derail the Philadelphia 76ers.
Iverson shrugged off a slow start to score a season-high 46 points Wednesday night, but the Magic contained Philadelphia's other starters to beat the 76ers 110-105 behind 25 points by Pat Garrity and 20 by Darrell Armstrong.
"That little guy is something else. He drove me crazy," Doc Rivers, Orlando's first-year coach, said. "We didn't want to trap him, and it nearly cost us. We told the guys if we could stop the other four, we could win the game."
Garrity came off the bench to make 10 of 11 shots and John Amaechi scored five of his 13 points in the final minute to help the surprising Magic improve to 4-2 with their third straight victory.
Iverson made nine straight shots during one stretch and scored 36 in the second half, including 22 in the third quarter when he made all eight of his shots and was 4-for-4 on 3-point attempts.
His strong third quarter lifted Philadelphia to 76-73 lead. But the 76ers, who are 1-0 at home but 0-4 on the road, never took control of the game.
"He played great, gave us a chance to win," 76ers coach Larry Brown said, describing Iverson's performance as "phenomenal."
Monty Williams gave the Magic the lead for good at 90-89, beginning a 15-6 spurt that allowed Orlando to go up 103-95 with just under three minutes to go.
The closest Philadelphia got down the stretch was three points before Amaechi scored on a putback and a 3-pointer for Orlando's last five points. Iverson finished 18-of-33 from the field, and his point total was four shy of his career high.
"I think that is the hottest I have ever been in my career," Iverson said, though the performance had a hollow feel because the 76ers lost yet another game in which he was virtually unstoppable.
"Every time I score 40, the same thing happens. So I would rather keep it under 40. I was just playing basketball. My teammates knew I was hot and just kept giving me the ball. Every team does that when a guy gets hot."
Armstrong got in foul trouble and his backup, Chucky Atkins, fouled out trying to guard Iverson. The Magic also used the 6-foot-8 Williams to try to slow the 6-foot Iverson, to no avail. When Armstrong returned in the fourth quarter, Rivers finally resorted to trapping the scoring champion.
"Just having two point guards, we couldn't afford to have Armstrong foul out," Rivers said. "We only did it to try to protect him."
George Lynch had 15 points and reserve Todd MacCulloch had 10 for the 76ers. Larry Hughes scored only seven points on 3-for-10 shooting in 17 minutes.
Iverson missed seven of his first eight shots and was 5-of-15 in the first half, yet the 76ers were able to wipe out an early 12-point deficit and build a double-digit lead of their own.
The Magic led 18-6 before being outscored 35-13 over a 13-minute stretch to fall behind 41-31. Iverson had four points during the surge and added two more baskets in the last five minutes of the second quarter to finish the half with 10 points.
Notes: Philadelphia's Tyrone Hill missed the game because of a ligament rupture in his right ring finger. He will be sidelined 7-10 days. ... Orlando's Matt Harpring sat out with a tendon problem in his left ankle. ... In five of the Magic's six games, the Magic's leading scorer has come off the bench. ... Philadelphia allowed an opponent to score 100 points for the first time this season.
