Disney 喺4月8日舉行咗一場只招待受邀者參與嘅線上發佈會, 並由Josh D'Amaro 講解嚟緊Disney Parks 嘅發展. 喺發佈會嘅尾聲, Josh D'Amaro 突然拎出一舊劍柄嘅物體, 然後隨即有把光劍從裡面伸咗出黎. 之後Josh 再補一句... It's real.
現時網上只得參與者嘅文字描述, 而事件經過一日嘅廣傳, Walt Disney Imagineer Scott Trowbridge 喺佢嘅Twitter 回應, Josh D'Amaro 手拎嘅呢支Lightsaber 絕對唔係CGI. 但團隊仍然研發緊, 未能真正面世.
而Fans 們亦發現, 原來早於2017年, Disney 已經為研發Lightsaber 而申請咗技術專利....

Protosaber หรือ Archaic lightsabers คือ กระบี่แสงในยุคแรกของเหล่าเจไดที่จะต้องพกเครื่องกำเนิดพลังงานภายนอก และมีสายพ่วงติดกับด้ามกระบี่ ด้วยความที่มันต้องพึ่งพาพลังงานจากภายนอก ทำให้ใช้งานได้จำกัด และไม่คล่องตัว แต่ในภายหลังเมื่อเทคโนโลยีพัฒนาขึ้น ทำให้ Lightsaber ไม่ต้องพึ่งพาพลังงานจากภายนอก ส่งผลให้ Protosaber ถูกยกเลิกการใช้งานและไปใช้ Lightsaber รุ่นใหม่แทน
