We leave the States for Hong Kong, the home of Kwan, who works in different artistic mediums — from painting to new media art and large installations — and designs quite stunning neon pieces friendly for the home as well. "Neon signs have long been an iconic part of Hong Kong's visual landscape holding cultural significance," says the artist. "Growing up in the city, I have always been captured and inspired by its unique aura and feel deeply connected to it."

The multi-award-winning artist, whose work has been exhibited in many countries, first started using neon elements in her paintings, before adding "different types of neon light to create artworks from smaller pieces to large public installations."

"I work with neon instead of other types of media when I feel it would bring out and complete the piece with its own distinctive quality," says Kwan. "With a strong presence that captures attention and bathes its surroundings in a soft glow, it allows the artwork to become fully alive and express itself." >>

We think it’s “Bando” (辦桌)！AIT Public Diplomacy Section Chief Diane Sovereign attended the Taipei Treasure Hill Artists Village’s “Bando” (辦桌) last month to celebrate the Village’s ten-year anniversary and highlight the art and cultural exchange between the U.S. and Taiwan. The Taipei Treasure Hill Artists Village has been a vibrant art community and houses artists around the world, including many from the United States, to develop art projects here in Taiwan. The 2020 Treasure Hill Light Festival will be open until Nov 8. Check it out and be proud of Taiwan’s unique creativity! You will be impressed by the elaborate art and light installations!

BELANG : Save Our Malayan Tiger 2020 exhibition was held to create public awareness in the Malayan Tiger conservation. As the tigers are on the brink of extinction, BELANG aims to bring more attention to this fact and try to halt their decline.

The exhibition was launched in the month of March, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the gallery had to close its doors earlier than planned. However, the exhibition has now been taken to the virtual world in a form of a website.

A total of 73 artworks, which ranges from various paintings - oils, acrylics, watercolour, and ink, mixed media, photography, installations, digitals and sculptures graced their presence in the Penang State Art Gallery.

Though, a handful of artworks were already purchased before the Restricted Movement Order (RMO) commenced, but there are plenty more stunning artworks listed in the website that are still available to be purchased by all you tiger lovers out there !!

Besides those stunning artworks waiting to adorn your beautiful homes, there are other merchandises available as well; fridge magnet, T-shirts in various sizes, and the infamous BELANG tote bag.

Part of the proceeds from the sales of artworks will be donated to the Save Our Malayan Tiger Campaign fund by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks of Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN).
