A winner and 9-time nominee at the Blues Music Awards, Guy is a leading voice of Piedmont and Delta Blues. Guy’s mastery has garnered wide critical acclaim, and his albums have graced “Best” lists for many years. With his signature fingerpicking style, Guy creates a classic Blues sound that resonates with simple truth. Immersed in the creative arts by his parents, actors Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, and drawing from the rich musical heritage of his Southern childhood, Guy brings a new vitality to the Blues tradition.
Corey is a long-time admirer, collaborator, and friend of Guy‘s, and has asked Guy to give lessons on his fingerpicking technique here at Sonic Junction. Guy is teaching a 4-part series on the Piedmont Blues classic “Things About Comin’ My Way," a tune popularized by Tampa Red in the 1930‘s. These lessons are taught with standard tuning in the in the key of C.
