The coach who lead me in my life, teach me, and protect me like a real father.
In order to rehabilitate his polio feet, he climbed the Central Mountain Range for 62 days. (In 1982?)
Even if one foot is polio, even if one eye can't see, still relying on one's ability and clear mind, it is fearless to travel through the mountains and forests.
The coach always said that those of us who like to go to the mountains to torture ourselves are "mentally retarded." Thanks to him, the "disabled" who led us that "metally disabled" people to biuld a rescue team .And also because of him I have achievement today.🙏
I remember that when I fell and got stuck on the glacier, I knew my left foot was out of control, and I remembered my coach. Less one foot is not the reason for unable to climb the mountain, only giving up is the reason. I think that: Since this old handicapped person can climb mountains, of course I can too!

Sometimes, we don’t particularly feel touched by a cause unless we or someone close to us are. This is my friend @edwin__gerard and thanks to his efforts I would like to bring awareness about the Yucheng Social Welfare Foundation for their incredible work to help the mentally and physically handicapped have a brighter future.
I can not even imagine the strength you need to assist them or how hard it can when you emotionally feel helpless.
Visit their fb page to see how to support this foundation. Thank you.

On a sunny Saturday morning in November 2019, a group of NTU GMBA students gathered in front of College of Management Building 2 in preparing for a visit to Taoyuan. The visit destination is Ting Fang Homestay in Taoyuan City, which is an institute dedicated to the care for the mentally handicapped. Through the arrangement made by Taiwan Yuanyuan Charity Association, the GMBA students could come to meet with those residents in person.
After half an hour's driving, GMBA students finally arrived at Ting Fang Homestay. A warm welcoming dance given by those residents delighted everyone. Their enthusiastic feedback was also impressive. Led by the assistant manager of Ting Fang Homestay, everyone visited various facilities inside it and had a thorough understanding of their vision. For the near future, Ting Fang Homestay tries to help more people with mentally handicapped, and strives to raise more resources and recruit more volunteers to work with them.
The purpose of today’s visit was assisting those residents to produce artworks for their funds raising. GMBA students helped to pour paint, add water and prepare paper for these artists. The interaction among all became stronger and stronger as the artworks gradually took shape. When the last stroke has been completed, all of them gave one another a big hug to celebrate their collective achievement. In the upcoming charity events, these artworks will be putting on auction. Hopefully they may raise enough funding to support the Homestay. As a member in this beautiful island, we shall try to help the land and the people on it.
When the visit was over, GMBA students and the volunteers from Yuanyuan Charity Association had a sharing session. They talked about how they felt for today’s visit and gave suggestions for future improvement. Everyone thought that it is a valuable experience and promise to join for the next action!

Thank you to Selangor Association for Mentally Handicapped (SAMH) Klang for having me visit their school and I got to meet outstanding children with many talents.
Volunteering leads to learning and development about other cultures and more importantly learns to discover yourself. When you volunteer its impossible to return home the same. The exposure of difference place other than yr home makes this so vulnerable. So even if u believe the world is in no need of saving, perhaps you yourself are. You will realize quite quickly that "your problems" really aren't that big on the true scale of things. Volunteering humbles you. ??

Thank you everyone who contributed! We returned to Thuy An Village: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pseAwauxFQ
About:
When I was younger, I lived in Hanoi, Vietnam for about 5 years. And during weekends, I would visit Thuy An village with the students of my school, United Nations International School of Hanoi to play with the children. It was an eye-opening experience and I really wanted to help them. I wanted to do more than just play with the children, I wanted to give them better lives. And now, I can. You can too:

On the 13th of September 2015, THEJIANHAOTAN FOUNDATION visited Thuy An Village giving the people over $2000 worth of food, milk, snacks, soccer balls and toys.
We will be returning to Thuy An Village in December. The children will need more clothes, food and milk as it can get to as cold as 8 degrees celcius. Please help the children: http://www.thejianhaotan.com/#!foundation/c9n5

More information about Thuy An Village:
Thuy An Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped Children finds itself 13kms away from small town of Son Tay City and 70kms from down town of Hanoi Capital. Founded in 1976, the centre was originally opened for disabled children whose parents are the veterans infected with the Agent Orange, the toxic chemical used in American war. Over time, however, the centre has started to render its services to all disabled children. Thuy An Centre is a ‘campus’ housing up to 150 children and 50 staff. The children aged 6 to 18 suffering from mental or physical disabilities are provided rehabilitation, special education and vocational training.
The ultimate goal of the centre is to help the children re-integrate into society. While special education helps to lessen the burden of children’s families by teaching the disabled to help themselves with personal activities, the vocational training programs enable handicapped children to earn their living and able to live independently in the future.
