【Cheers英語教室】客戶說：Nice talking to you，不是想繼續跟你聊天
Nice talking to you.是”It was nice talking to you.”的簡化，是委婉地告訴別人你要離開，是有禮貌地告別，千萬別會錯意，以為對方還想繼續聊下去。
I was out to tapao my favourite chap fan just outside my place. When I reached there, to my horror, I saw an Indian man without any face mask at all, standing over all the food and talking to the shopkeeper while telling him which dish to scoop for him. Why didn't the shopkeeper enforce the mask wearing? I immediately felt disgusted and left to another place.
Yesterday while I was looking for a parking spot, i saw a bunch of chinese taxi driver all sitting by the roadside, having a smoking session and some laughs, ALL of them did not wear their face mask. sigh.
On the way back, I saw 2 Malay grabfood drivers having a chat with each other on, next to their bikes, while waiting for their orders to be ready. Yeap, they took of their mask and stood face to face with each other TO HAVE A NICE CHAT.
I'm sure you would have come across these scenarios at least once before.
Why? Why do all these people still think that it is okay to go about their daily lives without face mask? It triggers me so much to see all these happening around me. Is it lack of education? These people could be someone's dad or someone's relative. So maybe, please educate and teach your family and friends that it is so important to follow simple SOPs to break the chain. Maybe they don't know. What's worst is if they know but yet completely disregard it, until one of their family members die from it. But then it would already be too late. It only takes one of them to be infected in a gathering of friends, which in turn will cause it to spread to their family members.
Covid doesn't care whether you are chinese, indian, malay, etc. It infects and kills all the same. Whats worst, if it doesn't harm you, it harms your family members - all because you thought it was okay and no need to wear mask and social distance. Can you live with the consequences of causing one of your family members to be gone for good?
Pisses me of to see all these still happening around me even after nearly 2 years of not getting better from this situation. Please guys, we can do better.

「Talk to」と「Talk with」は何が違う？
=================================
今日は“Talk to”と“Talk with”の微妙な違いについて説明します。よく“Talk to”は「一方的な会話」、“Talk with”は「（互いに）話し合う会話」と解釈している人がいるようですが、実は必ずしもこのルールに従って使い分けされているわけではないんです。両者を置き換えて使うこともあれば、状況によっては適切な使い分けが求められる事もあります。

1) Talk to
→「〜と話す」
--------------------------------------------------
Talk toは「一方的に話す」と「互いに（または複数の人と）話し合う」両方の意味合いが含まれるので、使われる状況を把握して判断する必要があります。例えば、まだ言葉もしゃべれない１歳児の赤ちゃんに毎晩話しかけているお母さんは「I talk to my baby every night.」となり、この場合は“一方的な会話”を指しますが、友達のマットさんとバーベキューについて（互いに）話し合った場合も「I talked to Matt about the BBQ party.」のように、一方的でなくともTalk toを使って表すことができます。
✔その他、「話し役」と「聞き役」が明確な場合もTalk toが使われます。例えば、上司が部下に「I need to talk to you. Can you come to my office?（話があるので私のオフィスに来てくれ）」のように、上司（話し役）が部下（聞き役）に仕事の指示などをする状況でも使われます。
＜例文＞
Do you have a minute? I need to talk to you about something.
（ちょっといい？話しがあるんだけど。）
I got into an argument with my girlfriend and she won't talk to me.
（彼女と喧嘩をして、口をきいてくれないんですよ。）
I just talked to Steve. It sounds like he's doing good.
（さっきスティーブさんと話しました。元気そうでしたよ。）

2) Talk with
→「〜と話し合う」
--------------------------------------------------
Talk withは「互いに話し合う」ことを意味し、一方的に話しかける意味としては使われません。ただし、上述の通りTalk toも「互いに話し合う」の意味として使えますが、Talk withの方が若干フォーマルな感じがします。
✔「Have a talk with」と表現する場合は、上司が部下または父親が子供に話すように、上下の関係性が明確な間柄において、権威を持っている人が重要な話や説教をする時に使われます。
＜例文＞
I talked with our client and resolved the issue.
（顧客と話し合って、問題を解決しました。）
It was really nice talking with you today. Let's keep in touch.
（今日は色々と話ができてよかったです。今後も連絡を取り合いましょう。）
I think you should have a talk with your son about his grades.
（息子さんの成績について話したほうがいいと思います。）
