2005年於愛丁堡成立的Touch Bionics團隊長期致力於高階肌電義肢的研究與開發,透過不斷地改良成功發展出獨特的專利技術及創新的手勢控制,並在2007年發表首款i-Limb系列肌電義肢。
i-Limb系列最大的特色在於使用者僅需熟練一些手勢即可改變手指抓握的模式,讓手掌能適應不同的使用情境(單指打鍵盤、兩指拿西洋棋、三指握住蔬菜水果等)。例如使用者只要上下甩動一下義肢,即可告訴義肢將大拇指轉向90度進行抓握。
Touch Bionics團隊也積極應用最新的消費科技趨勢,將智慧型手機及物聯網概念納入i-Limb的控制系統中,成為最新款式的主要特色。
使用者現在可以利用手機App來轉換不同的手指抓握模式,甚至可以搭配「Grip Chip」發送藍芽訊號,當使用者進入固定距離範圍時,自動切換抓握模式。
例如使用者預先設定一個Grip Chip模式為食指伸直其餘握拳,並將這個傳輸鈕扣放在鍵盤旁邊,只要一接近電腦即可自動切換至預設模式,使用者就可直接用單指打鍵盤了。
我個人從來沒想過物聯網夠這樣應用在肌電義肢上,真的覺得Touch Bionics團隊設想好周到好貼心,也不禁好奇還有甚麼義肢或輔具的應用可以和物聯網結合來提升整體使用經驗!?
