Do Muslims dislike dogs? Well that's up to the person. But the Quran teaches them to dislike them. How so?
Couple of reasons.
Firstly, the saliva of a dog is considered impure.
If they come into contact with a dog's saliva or our utensils do, they are told to wash it 7 times.
The Prophet said: "If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him throw away whatever was in it and wash it seven times." (Muslim)
So imagine having a dog as a pet, and it's saliva getting on almost everything in the house and on you as well. Imagine having to wash your hands 7 times each time it touches you.
Further, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog.” (Al-Bukhaari) and (Muslim).
Hence, they should not keep dogs as pets. However, they are allowed to keep dogs for guarding or hunting or farming purposes.
The Prophet said: "Whoever keeps a dog, his good deeds will decrease every day by one qeeraat (a unit of measurement), unless it is a dog for farming or herding." In another report, it is said: "... unless it is a dog for herding sheep, farming or hunting." (Al-Bukhaari)
So for those of you angry at me for sharing a Muslim anti-dog picture......educate yourself first. The picture itself was supposedly a "hoax". But considering the fact that their religion teaches them to hate dogs.....I wonder if it being a hoax....was the real hoax.
