英語で「センスがいい」は「Good sense」？
=================================
「センスがいいね！」を「You have a good sense」と言っていませんか？これ、実は間違った使い方なんです。（因みに、「センスが良い」を英語では「have good taste」と表現します）英語で「〜のセンスがある」と言うときは、基本的に「have a sense of _____」のかたちで表現します。今回は中でも日常会話でよく耳にする3つの用法パターンをご紹介します。

1) Have a sense of humor
→「ユーモアのセンスがある」

この表現は、ユーモアのセンスがあることを表し、面白い人やジョークなどを一緒に笑ってくれる人をさします。そのような人を一般的に、「He/She has a good/great sense of humor」と表現し、逆にユーモアのセンスがない人のことは、「He/she has no sense of humor.」と言います。
＜例文＞
I like spending time with him because he has a good sense of humor.
（彼はとても面白い人なので、一緒に時間を過ごすのが好きです。）
He's too serious. He has no sense of humor.
（彼は真面目過ぎて、全然面白くない。）
I like someone with a good sense of humor.
（ユーモアのセンスがある人がタイプです。）

2) Have a sense of direction
→「方向感覚がある」

この表現は、sense（感覚）＋ direction（方向）で「方向感覚がある」ことを意味します。「方向感覚が良い」は「have a good sense of direction」、逆に「方向音痴」は「have no sense of direction」と言います。
＜例文＞
My dad has a good sense of direction.
（私の父親は方向感覚が良いです。）
I have no sense of direction. I always get lost.
（私は方向音痴です。いつも迷います。）
Do you have a good sense of direction?
（あなたは方向感覚が良いですか？）

→「〜という実感を持つ」

この表現は、「〜という実感を持つ・抱く・覚える」を意味する表現です。Sense ofの後ろに実感を抱く対象が入ります。例えば、「達成感を抱く」は「Have a sense of accomplishment.」のように用いられます。
＜例文＞
I had a sense of accomplishment after completing my first marathon.
（初めてのマラソンを完走して、達成感がありました。）
Brent behaves with a strong sense of responsibility.
（ブレントは強い責任感を持って行動します。）
She has a strong sense of job loyalty.
（彼女は仕事への忠誠心が強いです。）
