聽朗讀前，先來解析選段
先欣賞整系列的第一段，介紹的是男主角的阿姨和姨丈一家
Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you’d expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn’t hold with such nonsense.

讀來是否覺得反差很大？這麼「正常」的一家即將迎接魔法界的重要孤兒哈利波特！
德思禮一家其實被描繪得很討人厭，歧視又自大
怎麼可以讓哈利住這家呢？來讀兩位教授的爭執：
‘I’ve come to bring Harry to his aunt and uncle. They’re the only family he has left now.’
the only family 僅存的家人（複數）
‘You don’t mean – you can’t mean the people who live here?’ cried Professor McGonagall, jumping to her feet and pointing at number four. ‘Dumbledore – you can’t. I’ve been watching them all day. You couldn’t find two people who are less like us. And they’ve got this son – I saw him kicking his mother all the way up the street, screaming for sweets. Harry Potter come and live here!’
can't find two people who are less like us 那兩人根本跟我們是天壤之別（世上找不到更不像我們的人了）
this son 這樣一位兒子
kicking his mother all the way up the street 一路吵鬧著要媽媽上街（應該不是踢媽媽，不太合理）
screaming for sweets 吵著要糖吃
最後一句是感嘆語氣，意思是「竟然要讓他住這？！」
把這一家的惡形惡狀生動描繪
最後看留下孤兒之後的教授神態：
‘Good luck, Harry,’ he murmured. He turned on his heel and with a swish of his cloak he was gone.
他喃喃：祝你好運，哈利。轉身，斗蓬一甩，不見蹤影。
本章最後一句留下潛在危機和希望感：
at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: ‘To Harry Potter – the boy who lived!’
此刻，全國各處秘密見面的人們，舉起酒杯，低聲致敬：「敬哈利波特，那活下來的男孩！」
