Some basic yoga poses and insightful tips to open, lengthen and uncompress, which will release tension and stress from our body, with deep breaths.

1. Seated poses (crossed-legged)
Seated arm cross hold knees :
Opens the hips, shoulders and releases tension in neck and head.
.
Eagle arms : Opens the hips, shoulders and releases tension and calms the mind.
Move gently side to side or lift and lower the elbows.
.
2. Standing poses
Cat Cow : Opens the spine and calms the mind.
Down dog : Opens up the back of the legs, shoulders, releases tension in the head and neck, improves blood flow in the entire body, and calms the mind.

*Option 1 : bend the knees and elbows, opens up the back of the legs more gently than Down dog.
*Option 2 : Instead of feet hip width stance, try wider for space into back of the legs.
*Option 3 : More opening for the shoulders, feet hip width, palms wider than shoulder width.

3. Backbends :
Cobra, Mid dog and Up Dog : Opens the spine, and energize the mind.
Draw the shoulders back and down.

The first step is to identify your energy 🙌🏻 - what are you feeling at the moment? Are you angry? Anxious? Content?
Even though the emotions are placed in three different energy levels, it is not unusual to feel few emotions from other groups. If you identify with this, you may want to implement the type of activity that fits what you are feeling.
These are some of the activities that proved to be helpful 👇🏻
High energy: This is a simple breathing exercise you can try anywhere. Breath quietly through the nose for 4 seconds. Hold your breath for 7 seconds. Exhale forcefully through the mouth, pursing the lips and making a “whoosh” sound for 8 seconds. Start with four cycles to feel the effects, though you should do no more than eight reps in one sitting.
Grounded: Study a photograph, perhaps the photo at the top of this post. Close your eyes and try to recreate it in your mind. When you’ve got it, challenge yourself to add in other senses. What sounds are you hearing? What smells? And what feeling does the image evoke?
Low energy: Yoga is one such way to increase physical activity and combat fatigue. Most yoga asanas do not require special equipment and can be quickly done at home, provided an experienced yoga instructor oversees your practice. Three Yoga poses that successfully help with this is: Bhujangasana (cobra pose), Dhanurasana (bow pose), Tadasana (mountain pose).
However, I highly encourage you to research a little more to find the suitable one for you. I also want to add that if you are feeling high or low energy, please don't be too hard on yourself. We are figuring out life; hence it is not out of the ordinary to feel in a certain way. As long you are willing to take care of yourself, you are doing great 🌻💖

Cobra is such a common yoga pose, but when I just started, I didn’t know what I was supposed to be feeling or doing. ⠀
Now that I know a better, let me share with you 😉🙏🏽⠀

Cobra is a reclining back-bending pose that is often practiced as an alternative to upward facing dog (knees off the ground) in sun salutations ☀️ ⠀
⠀
Benefits:⠀
💛Strengthens arms, back & buttocks⠀
💛Increases flexibility in the spine⠀
💛Stretches chest, shoulders, lungs, abdomen & massages internal organs.⠀
💛Relieves stress & fatigue.⠀
💛Opens heart & throat chakras.⠀
⠀
🌚 Counter poses: Downward facing dog, child’s pose... ⠀
⠀
Things to remember in this pose:⠀
💫Slightly squeeze your elbows towards your body rather than letting them go out to the sides.⠀
💫Press firmly down through the tops of your feet and your thighs. Draw your tailbone toward the ground.⠀
💫On an inhale, reach your chest forward and up. Draw your shoulders away from your ears.⠀
💫Stay here or press into your palms and begin to straighten your elbows. Keep your legs engaged as you lift your chest forward and up.⠀
💫Stay in the pose for up to 30 seconds.⠀
💫To release, lower your body as you exhale and rest on the floor.⠀

Now that it's the holiday season, most of us might be consuming heavier meals, which takes much longer for our body to digest and this can also cause digestion related problems.
So let's spend only 10 minutes to do these "10 Gentle Yoga Poses to Help Improve Your Digestion". This will help your organs to operate more efficiently, reduce stress, and to also create awareness of your body as you eat. If you just had a heavy meal, wait for at least 2 hours before doing these stretches.
1) Extended Triangle Pose
2) Squat Pose
3) Bridge Pose
4) Camel Pose
5) Cat & Cow
6) Downward Facing Dog
7) Wide Child Pose
8) Cobra
9) Wind Relieving Posture
10) Spinal Twist
Throughout the poses, try to breathe as SLOWLY and DEEPLY as you can, breathing in and out through your nose, as you hold each pose. Try to hold each pose for 30 seconds to a minute. So the next time you suffer from indigestion, gas, bloating, stomach pain, get onto your mat to stretch & twist.
