Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League (#CPBL), which gained international attention as the first professional #baseball league in the world to start its season in 2020, opened its 2021 season with a stellar matchup between the Uni-Lions and the CTBC Brothers in Tainan. Tainan’s Municipal Baseball Stadium was packed with enthusiastic fans and players, led by Taiwan’s president, Tsai Ing-wen. The season’s first game reflected the resilience and unity of the Taiwanese people, which has led to the country’s success against the #COVID19 pandemic.

On April 12, Taiwan's CPBL (confusingly named, the “Chinese Professional Baseball League” 中華職棒大聯盟) became the first pro baseball league in the world to start its 2020 season. In this episode, we catch up with journalists Jacky Lee and Adam Wang on the innings and outs of the CPBL and on the history of Taiwan baseball.

Jacky is a contributor to Fox Sports Taiwan and Eleven Sports. Adam, for the past three years, worked in the U.S. writing about Taiwanese players in the American Major League Baseball.
