BAFTA Games Awards เพิ่มกฎการคัดเลือกเกมที่เข้าชิงรางวัล เพื่อให้เกมที่ขึ้นประกวดมีความหลากหลายมากขึ้น

BAFTA Games Awards งานประกาศรางวัลสื่อบันเทิงยอดเยี่ยมประจำปีจากสถาบันศิลปะสื่อภาพยนตร์และโทรทัศน์ของประเทศอังกฤษ ได้มีการปรับเปลี่ยนกับเพิ่มกฎเกณฑ์ในการคัดเลือกเกมที่เข้าชิงรางวัล ด้วยการนำ "มาตรฐานความหลากหลายของ BFI" (BFI Diversity Standards) มาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกฎคัดเลือก เพื่อให้เกมที่ขึ้นประกวดมีความหลากหลายมากขึ้น

โดย BAFTA ได้กล่าวผ่านสื่อต่างประเทศ GamesIndustry.biz เผยว่า เกมที่ส่งเข้าประกวด BAFTA ของปี 2021 จะถูกขอให้ประเมินตนเองตามหลักเกณฑ์ที่ผู้จัดงานกำหนดไว้ เช่น การนำเสนอในเกมอย่างธีมและการเล่าเรื่อง, ความเป็นผู้นำและทีมพัฒนา, การเข้าถึงอุตสาหกรรมกับการมอบโอกาสต่าง ๆ และการพัฒนาฐานผู้เล่น

Amanda Berry ผู้บริหารสูงสุดของ BAFTA เผยว่าจุดประสงค์ของการเพิ่มกฎคัดเลือกเกม ก็เพื่อ "สร้างมาตรฐานใหม่ และเพิ่มความหลากหลายให้กับ BAFTA's Games Awards ในอนาคต" รวมถึงในอนาคต BAFTA อาจจะนำ BFI Diversity Standards มาใช้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกฎและข้อบังคับในอีเวนต์ถัดไปอีกด้วย
