Lowbing Miyu
Lowbing Miyu
(Sediq Toda)
Lowbing Miyu
Lowbing Miyu

To Freedom / Lowbing Miyu
Nineteen-year-old Lowbing Miyu, from the Sediq Toda indigenous community in Hualien’s Dgarung village, is a tenth generation Msabuh or shaman. When he was fourteen, he discovered that the Msabuh’s Daran (bamboo divination sticks) kept sticking to his hand, indicating his vocation. He then studied under his grandmother--also a Msabuh--becoming the youngest Msabuh in his community.
Lowbing features in MOFA’s recent promotional short for the United Nations General Assembly, in which he talks of his freedom to pursue the vocation of his ancestors:
“As a tenth generation shaman in my community, I feel the spirits of my ancestors gave me my vocation. I will continue to study to continue this culture of rites.”
If the UN states part of its mission as encouraging countries around the world to respect the rights of their people, Taiwan's vision of global partnership can serve as a valuable reference.

Receive the Royal Crown
“Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, came to go in to the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the keeper of the women, advised. Esther obtained favor in the sight of all those who looked at her. So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus into his royal house in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. The king loved Esther more than all the women, and she obtained favor and kindness in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown on her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.” (Esther 2:15-17 WEB)
There was a huge beauty pageant being held to choose a new queen.
Each contestant could choose an item to bring with her into the king’s presence.
All the young women brought what they thought would please the king, based on their own assumptions and understanding.
However, Esther was uncommon. She trusted the king’s eunuch and brought what he recommended, into the king’s presence.
In this story, Esther is a picture of a believer, the eunuch represents the Holy Spirit, and the king represents God the Father.
Do you lean on your own understanding or do you trust the leading of the Holy Spirit?
How do you obtain great favor from God? It is by humbly relying on the Holy Spirit and not by trusting in your self-efforts, intelligence, beauty, skills, or strength.
When you lean on Him, you receive the power of God into your circumstances.
The one who relies completely on the Holy Spirit receives the royal crown on the head.
“Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor, when you embrace her. She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you.”” (Proverbs 4:7-9 WEB)
The Holy Spirit gives you godly wisdom whereas the world’s wisdom is earthly, sensual, and even demonic. God’s crowns you with grace and splendor (every good thing). This is how you reign in life!

This is the tenth year of the Hualian part of Eastern Taiwan Pride
This is the third year of Yilan Pride Bazaar
The hostile scolding and yelling in the beginning has turned into welcoming smiles
Lots of locals came out of their houses
Some waved at us, some welcomed us with rainbow flags
Grandparents and parents bring their kids
to welcome everyone with smiles and encouragement
The bazaar is a great way
to communicate the values of diversity through daily lives and fun activities
The weather was great as always
Rays of sunlight radiated on everyone’s faces
We sang, danced and clapped along with the volunteers
in a stunning display in front of every corner of the streets
We all want to live happily ever after
That includes people joining the parade or those of you in front of the computer
We long for a person, a place, a safe haven, to rest our tired, wary hearts.
The slogan for this year’s Hualian Pride is “Ten years and going strong”
While that of Yilan’s is “Coming home, straight or queer.”
May all of us come home with our heads held up high.
May we spread the word of diversity.
May every person, every kind of quality, every kind of love be respected.
Thanks everyone in Hualian and Yilan for putting your efforts in.
Let’s keep pushing forward into the future.

.
This’s Our Daily Life (Btw, the clips were taken few years ago, and Yobi ain’t able to climb up the staircase since last year). Meanwhile we go out everyday, I have to repeat thousands of times : “It ain’t about NO PHOTO, but Please Ask Before U Snap”. Especially when doggies they pee/poo, when am cleaning after, when am carrying tons of pops. Try to imagine, what if the same shit is happening to yourself, how U feel?! U may have ur own perception/choice, but can I have mine?!
.
People did study “May I?!”, “Would U mind?!” at school, but how come I stop U taking a photo and then I became impossible?! When I stop people taking a photo, try to explain why, and they may probably feel bad or offensive, but actually did people care how I feel the first place?! Am truly calm and patience when I stop and explain to the first one or second one, but when I talk to the tenth, the twentieth, I feel very very annoyed and pissed off..... Am not a robot, I have my emotion too. This ain’t sorts freedom or human rights, but courtesy and respect!
.
Many people say they feel a lot the warmness and friendliness of the people when visiting TaiWan and Japan, but where is ours then?! I don’t know since when, people do communicate on social media’s, but they won’t talk to people face to face and became mute and deaf, for how long we didn’t care people around?!
.
I never mind to share the happiness of the pack with people, am just expecting more and more people shall get engaged positively! They 5 are having photos with numerous people everyday, a reward to those people whom did ask for one politely!

We Japanese love eel. Eel is Unagi in Japanese. We eat them as Una-Don eel rice bowl, Una-Juu eel rice box and so on. But the price of eel is expensive recently. We can't eat it so often. So we have some substitute product. This video shows fake eel 'Una-Jiro', it's made of fish paste. The texture is a bit hard but the flavor is same because the sauce is same. The price is about one tenth. I love real eel, but I like fake eel too;)
