Last night 8pm featured on Buletin TV3 @buletintv3
With the sub headline of Larian Menara and the headline of
"WAI CHING BERGELAR JUARA DI JERMAN"
Race Summary.
1. Before the race, I was so glad to be able to get into the stairs. RD said to me, are we going to see a new course record? I told him that, it's in my capacity to hit that time, I am targeting a 3:15 - 3:20 min. He then wished me all the best!
39 Floors, 714 Steps, 142 Meter Elevation Gained.
2. During the run, I started off slightly too fast than the pace I should have maintain on, which will give me the time of 3:20 min. I felt great from the start and wanted a much faster time and therefore I started to slow down after 25 floors.
3. It was really tough to hold the pace from 25 floors to 34 floors. I tried my best, using all the technique I have and trying to hang on with it.
4. When approaching the last 5 floors, I gave everything I have to run up as fast as I can. Remembering all the hard work that I have put in my training, traveled all the way from Malaysia, and wanted Malaysia to be on the top of the list as the Overall Champion, I continued to step up, withstanding both of my heavy legs and rushed to the finishing line and stopped my watch.
5. I looked at my watch while lying down gasping for air and a 3:24 appear on the screen. Hoping that it might turn out to be 3:23 at least to equal the record.
6. Then the race director told me "Wai Ching, I think you need to run again". I was so worried that something wrong with the timing chip that it didn't capture my time. Then he told me that, you are 1 second slower than the course record. 😭
7. Then I asked him, can I run for the second time, just wanted to give another try on the CR and he replied yes but it will be with traffic.
8. I went down and did some jog, warm up again and re tune my pace for this.
9. I started about 60 min after my first run. I was in control and patient. Despite the tiredness from the first run, I felt much better and being in the flow with the pace I have set. The tiredness strike me in the last 10 floors and I tried my best to maintain and sprint the last 3 floors and the time turn out to be 3:26.5 min.

@tenaga_nasional Record Breaking Night supposed to be held on 13th Oct 2020 in conjunction with Hari Sukan Negara. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the event got postponed.
We then decided to do it on 12th January 2021. Then again, MCO 2.0 was being announced to start on 13th January 2021. So we have no choice to postponed it for the second time.
Finally, we had a meeting with Technogym Malaysia on mid March when the conditions were better in Klang Valley and decided to do it on 9th April 2021.
With each time of postponement, I need to train on the machine for at least a month prior to the date of record breaking night.
Stair climbing on the machine is much tougher compared to the actual stairs due to the fact that I need to step on every step of the machine (20.6cm) and there are only 3 available steps, it is very challenging to do double steps when there is a change on the pace.
By stepping on each and every step on the machine, it tax me more and in efficient way of climbing stairs. But looking at the bright side, it is much more challenging and I accept the challenge.
The good thing about the stair climb machine is that you do it at a much control environment. So you can set it up at a cold environment whereby it will help to improve your performance as more blood flow to the working muscles than flowing near to the skin to dissipate the heat.
Throughout the 1 hour journey, it was tough compared to the sport that we do normally as I have to peak 3 times for the 3 records.
I did better for the first two records than what I was targeted. I took the risk to start at a much faster steps per minute as I strongly believe that I will be able to nail it.
When comes to the final record, it was the most challenging one as I need to climb one mile height in an hour, and that's about 500 floors.
The last 10 minutes was super challenging as I started to feel the cramp on both my calves. With the cheers from the crowd and the supports, I managed to progress the pace and push the last 2 minutes to end it!
I am so so glad to accomplished the mission at last after few rounds of postponement and time to move on for next challenge!

Found right next to the Pinang Peranakan Mansion at Church Street, Nyonya Palazzo is the one of the latest spots to get your afternoon tea fixed. The restaurant can be found at the building next to the Peranakan Mansion... on the upper floor. Take the steep flight of stairs up and you will find yourself in an old-school... wooden flooring space, with plenty of Nyonya knick-knacks and art-displays. The colorful Nyonya Kuih on display will attract you next. The seating arrangement is a little odd here... with tables and chairs a little too close to each other, if they can sort this out, it would be more comfortable to enjoy the afternoon here. On the menu, it has an array of Nyonya delights- from Kuih to light snacks and desserts. Unique ambiance second to none but the hefty price tags on the menu might set you back a bit (imagine a piece of Kuih priced at Rm 9.90), this place is more for a novelty experience than absolute taste.
Baba & Nyonya High Tea Set (Rm 29.90)
Cold Laksa Spaghetti (Rm 19.90)
Pulut Hitam (Rm 9.90)
Tea Misai Kucing (Rm 9.90)
Address: No. 29, Church Street, 10200, Georgetown, Penang.
Business Hours: 9 am to 9 pm. Opens Daily.

Little Nightmares 2 guide: Signal Tower door puzzle
FIRST HALLWAY (TWO DOORS)
After the first set of stairs, you’ll reach a hallway with two doors. The two open doors are in the lower right and upper left.
The trick to this hallway is to listen to the music — it’s louder when you're standing by the door you should walk through.
Go through the doors in this order:
Lower right
Lower right
Upper left
Upper left
RIGHT-TO-LEFT HALLWAY
This will take you with a hallway that runs from right to left.
Listen for the music again to find the correct door.
Skip the first open door.
Go into the middle, rolled-up-halfway door.
This time, you should also notice white sparkles coming off of Mono. That’s your clue for the next area.
SECOND HALLWAY (ONE DOOR)
This one is kind of a gimme. Step away from the door’s light, and then head back through the same door.
THIRD HALLWAY (FOUR DOORS)
In the third hallway, there are four doors with two on each side. When you first enter, two of the doors will be closed.
The key this time is to look for those white sparkles to come off of Mono when he’s standing in the light from a doorway. The music will also be louder in the correct doorway.
Push open the lower left door, but don’t go through (you’ll need it open in a second)
Upper left
Upper right
Lower right
This will take you to another set of stairs.
FOURTH HALLWAY (SEVEN DOORS)
The next hallway is the most complicated yet. As soon as you arrive, push over the plank to create a bridge to the back half of the hall.
Again, you’ll looking for those white sparkles and loud music when you stand in the light from a doorway.
Bottom right
Second from bottom left
Second from top left
That will take you to the next stairway.

How do you feel as you step into the last 4 months of 2020?
For many of us, this year hasn’t gone the way we expected or hoped for. Perhaps you started the year full of vision, brimming with excitement about the possibilities that a new decade could bring.
At the start of the year, Pastor Prince released the prophetic word that this year would be The Year of Time and Space. Expounding on the 3 chambers in the Temple of Solomon (1 Kings 6:5–6 KJV), he shared what the Lord had in store for us in the 3 parts of the year—beginning, middle, and end. We are now stepping into the final part of 2020. That’s why we want to encourage you to listen to the Theme of the Year sermons again.
In this video excerpt, Pastor Prince reminds us of God’s promise to us in these last few months of 2020. While the world is overwhelmed by fear, worry, and anxiety about what lies ahead, you can be confident and at peace knowing that your Heavenly Father has opened the uppermost chamber of His provision to you. God set into motion His supply and provision for you long before you were aware of the needs and demands you’re facing right now.
Let’s have a confident expectation that the next 4 months will be our best ones yet!

I hope this Taiwan Alishan travel guide video and notes below helps you. If you have a question please leave a comment below.
- 8:30 AM ARRIVE CHIAYI STATION
That’s the TRA station - not the high speed rail. If arriving by high speed rail allow up to 30 minutes to catch a taxi to the TRA station.
For a guide to trains and buying train tickets in Taiwan see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDpdUGs7HNM)
- 9:00 AM TRAIN FROM CHIAYI STATION TO FENQIHU STATION (runs at 9:00 on weekdays, 9:30 and 10:00 on weekends, trip time 2.5 hours)
You can’t go all the way to Alishan station now as the track was damaged in a typhoon and they’re not going to fix it).
You can buy tickets in advance here: https://afrch.forest.gov.tw/. The website is only in Chinese so use google chrome on your computer to translate the page. Pay by credit card then pick the ticket up at ANY major train station when you arrive in Taiwan (show your passport at the ticket window).
Guide to the train numbers here: http://taiwan-itinerary.blogspot.com/2016/10/alisan-railway-tickets.html.
- LUNCH AT FENQIHU
Fenqihu was the popular stop for loggers at lunchtime so it’s a really cute little old town. The bento shop shown in the video is next to the 7-Eleven. When you arrive at Fenqihu, go all the way down the stairs, walk straight down the street and you’ll see it. Fenqihu isn’t big so you can wander around for the rest of the time. Unfortunately unless you stay in Fenqihu overnight, there’s not enough time to go hiking or see the lake (which is what the town is named after).
- BUS FROM FENQIHU TO ALISHAN TRANSPORT STATION
Use google maps for directions on where to catch the bus from (up on the highway). Set your destination as “Alishan station” and select directions for public transport. Schedules say the bus leaves at 2:40 but we arrived at the highway just before 2:30 and the driver said it was already past time to leave. So get there a little early! This is apparently the last bus, although you can catch another bus to Shizao, then change for a bus to Alishan (that seemed too annoying so we didn’t do it).
- DINNER AT ALISHAN
I haven’t seen one good food review on Alishan (it’s not what you’re there for anyway!) - so we just got beers and instant noodles from the 7 Eleven and enjoyed them at the hotel.
- STAY AT ALISHAN HOUSE
Look around for deals online, or stay at another hotel near the Alishan station (https://goo.gl/maps/Mn2yTnAAoWn). There are quite a few. Don’t expect a cheap hotel to have good facilities, this is a very popular tourist destination. Book early especially in peak season!
- SUNRISE TRAIN
Tickets for the sunrise train (around 350nt round trip) are sold the afternoon before at the Alishan train station. If staying at Alishan house you can buy them straight from the hotel reception, or if staying somewhere else, go to Alishan train station to buy these.
- HIKING
There are trails around the train station area. Pick up a map from the station or your hotel. The train on top of the mountain can also take you to some of the attractions if you’re tired of walking.
- BUS BACK TO CHIAYI
Get a timetable from the 7-11 at the transport station (or your hotel will have one). Use your easycard/ipass card to pay for the bus fare BUT you need to “save your bus spot” at the 7 Eleven first. I tried doing this 30 minutes before catching the bus but there were no spots left so we had to wait 1.5 hours until the next bus. So do this as early as you can. The last bus leaving from Alishan transport station to go down the mountain is around 5:00 pm.
There are taxi drivers around the transport station trying to get you to go down the mountain with them. I don’t recommend this option.
